One of the presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has revealed that he has no doubt in getting the party’s ticket for the forthcoming Presidential election.
Makarfi who is among the numerous people who are hoping to win the party’s primary election for the presidential race disclosed his optimism over the ticket yesterday in Lagos when he was addressing reporters.
Makarfi revealed that he does not need money to get the votes of the delegates that would participate in the election as he noted that majority of the party members are conscious of him being the best candidate bear the presidential flag in the 2019 election.
Other aspirants who are also hoping to win the presidential ticket of the PDP include the former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Sokoto, Attahiru Bafarawa, former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Gombe governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Speaking to the reporters, Makarfi said: “When did Nigeria start to produce presidents because of resources? Former presidents Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and now President Muhammadu Buhari, did not become presidents based on money.”
He emphasised that his deeds as a former Governor of Kaduna State and The National Chairman of the Caretaker committee of the party would definitely work for him noting that he does not need to give cash gifts to party members before they give their support.
Makarfi revealed that a party member disclosed to him that some of the aspirants have been parting with gifts in form of cash and material things in order to gain support, but that he doesn’t need to involve in such acts.
In his words: “In one of the Southwest states I visited, a member said other aspirants have been giving them money and gifts, but I don’t have to give them money or gifts to vote for me in the primaries because they know I am the best man for the job.”
Shut up and leave PDP if you have no value to add, Agbaje tells Bode George
Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje has told former Deputy National Chairman, Bode George to shut up and leave the party if he has no value to add.
There has been disagreement between George and Agbaje over the outcome of the governorship election in Lagos that returned Babajide Sanwo-olu elected as both have been blaming each other for the failure of the party to win the state.
Recently, the duo are at each other’s throat over defection insinuations, which both have denied.
Agbaje had accused George of insinuating his defection from the PDP, when he was described as a failed governorship candidate.
Speaking on the clash, media aide to Agbaje, Felix Oboagwina, denied reports that his principal had dumped the opposition party and also accused the leadership of the party in Lagos of alleged plans to “give the dog a bad name and chase it away from the party.”
On the social media posts that Agbaje had left the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oboagwina said they were untrue.
“There is nothing like that, nothing like that at all. He is still in PDP; he has not defected. How can people say he has defected on social media? He is too big for that; he is in PDP.”
When asked if there were plans by his principal to dump the PDP for APC, he answered in the negative.
“People should please tell Bode George to shut up and leave PDP if he lacks any value to add to the party, instead of being a dog in the manger hampering the progress of the party in Lagos State.
“He should tell the world where he got the news being spread around.
Atiku Abubakar Is Not A Threat To Democracy But Believes In The Rule Of Law – Paul Ibe
The Presidential Candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last Nigeria Presidential Election, Atiku Abubakar recently states that he saw a signal to be arrested, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
However, Atiku media spokesperson, Paul Ibe states this on Sunday.
Besides, the accusation of Atiku about the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC conduct of the election, he is tagged to be a threat to the current administration.
His Spokesperson is quoted saying, “I wish to emphatically state that such a statement did not emanate from Atiku Abubakar or his privies.
“It is the work of mischief makers who want to mar his spotless pro-democratic record and lay the groundwork for their threatened actions against him on false charges of being a threat to national security.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Atiku Abubakar believes in the rule of law and in the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In his almost four decades in politics, he has never taken action or spoken words against democracy and will not start now.
“Atiku Abubakar and his team have confidence in God and thus call on those bent on mischief to have the fear of God and retrace their steps.
Ibe then finally stated that:
“Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. The culture of fear being created now cannot rein in our democracy. Nigeria and Nigerians have a consistent history of outlasting tyranny and will continue to do so by the grace of God.”
