Medical Experts Laments Dwindling Economy Of Imo State; Says Okorocha Is Responsible
A group of medical experts under the Umbrella of Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, ACMPN, has lamented on the state of the economy of Imo.
The group also attached the retrogressing nature of the economy of the state to the present administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha whom they have accused of “mindlessly destroying Imo economy.”
The medical practitioners are basing their arguments on the fact that the Governor allegedly lavished more than N3.5 trillion to an urban renewal programme in the state.
The group made their grievance known through its chairman, Dr. Philip Njemanze, who gave a press release tagged: “The 10 Mortal Sins of Governor Rochas Okorocha.”
According to the group, not less than 25,000 jobs have been lost since the implementation of the programme by the Governor of the state.
In the words of the chairman: “Imo State economy drastically shrunk because of the loss of a whopping N3.5 trillion, as a result of the urban renewal programme. The colossal loss resulted in an equally disturbing loss of no fewer than 25,000 jobs.”
Speaking further, Njemanze revealed that “These huge losses have sadly reduced the state’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, by at least 30 percent”.
He also explained that “10 mortal sins” which the governor has been accused to have committed are perceived to be in contrary to the ten commandments of God.
Recounting the sins of the governor, the ACMPN leader said: “The Okorocha administration had publicly lied in the name of God, in what everyone knows is false, including the false assertion that the state administration paid N400 million to the Catholic Archdiocese, for the refurbishing of Catholic schools.”
He narrated that: “The governor instead used the money to erect statues of friends and associates, and luxury homes for family members and cronies, in violation of the fifth commandments.”
He also spoke on the abortion bill which was recently signed into law by Governor Okorocha, he said: “We have not forgotten the Abortion Bill, which the governor signed into law, to murder the unborn Imo child.”
He also recalled the death of a young lad who was killed by a stray bullet of security operatives who were carrying out the order of the Governor in the state.
Quoting him, he said: “We have equally not forgotten how 10-year old Somtochukwu Ibeanusi was murdered gruesomely, during the destruction of Ekeukwu Owerri market. This is a violation of the sixth commandment that you shall not kill.”
