Just like other Senators have been commenting over the siege laid by the Officers of the Director of State Services on the National Assembly today, controversial senator Dino Melaye has also aired his opinion on the matter.
According to Dino Melaye, NASS would not allow impunity to prevail over democracy in Nigeria.
In his words, “the battle to protect democracy is a battle of no retreat, no surrender.”
Melaye who is representing Kogi West senatorial district stressed that the APC led government would not have its way in the National Assembly.
Similarly, Melaye also took to his twitter handle to condemn the action of the DSS, which is alleged to be an order from ‘above’.
Recalled that it has been previously reported by NIGERIA NEWS that men of the DSS stormed the National Assembly today blocking all entrances that led to the premises.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has however accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress of being responsible for the action of the DSS.
The accusation was as a result of an ongoing rumour that the APC lawmakers in NASS intend to forcefully impeach the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki who recently dumped the party to join the PDP.
The APC on its part has denied any involvement in the incident and has urged members of the public to ignore accusation.
Meanwhile, Acting President, Professor Osinbajo has ordered the immediate removal of the DSS boss, Lawal Daura from office over the incident.
Recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had handed over the affairs of the country to his vice last Friday before embarking on a ten-day vacation in London.
Below is one of the tweet Melaye post on his official twitter handle in reaction to the siege on National Assembly.
Democracy under attack. Nigerians must defend democracy. We will not allow antidemocratic forces to prevail.
