MURIC Writes On How Fayemi Can Win Fayose

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Group has called on the people of Ekiti state ahead of its July Governorship election to be wary of deceitful tactics by Governor Ayo Fayose’s anointed candidate, Prof Olusola. The group made this call in a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to PoliticsNGR.

MURIC, in the statement, admonished Ekiti muslims that the selection of a Muslim as Olusola’s deputy is for selfish interests.

The group reeled out various instances in which Fayose should have make equal selection of both religions as members of his cabinet position but chose to go with an all-christian cabinet.

MURIC, therefore, asked that Ekiti Muslims should not be deceived by Fayemi’s tactics, which they alleged, was all a bid to win the elections.

The group also outlined Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) balanced position during his first tenure, adding that the only way to checkmate Fayose now is for the  to also pick a Muslim as his running mate.

MURIC further reiterated that they are not advocating religion as a criterion in voting but rather that the people vote for true democrats, diligence, integrity and cool-headed politicians.

Read MURIC’s statement below:

“Kolapo Olusola, a Christian and gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the July 2, 2019 election in Ekiti State, has picked a Muslim as his running mate. Although some Muslims in the state reportedly jubilated over the appointment, the state branch of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has cautioned that it is too early for that.”

“The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) is on the same page with the state branch of NACOMYO. We can see the fingers of the state governor, Ayodele Fayose in the pie being fried for the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Olusola. We have no iota of doubt that Fayose influenced the decision to pick a Muslim as deputy for Olusola for his own selfish reasons.”

“While we admit that it is a deft move, we wish to throw a caveat emptor. Ekiti Muslims should not repose their trust in Ayodele Fayose because of his antecedents. Fayose, a Muslim-hater, is bending all over to exploit Muslims. Having realized that his time is up and that his choice candidate has a very slim chance, Fayose is now courting Muslim votes to shore up his lapses.”

“Fayose wants to eat his cake and still have it. But what did he do with the Muslims during his tenure? How many Muslims did he appoint to political positions? MURIC cried out in September 2015 over Fayose’s all Christian cabinet.”

“What does Fayose think he can still do for Muslims when he had a Christian Deputy Governor, a Christian speaker, a Christian Deputy Speaker, and a Christian Chief of Staff? What does he and his party want with Muslims now after ignoring our cries for four good years? It is too late. Clowning will not help. Wearing turban will not help either. The die is cast.”

“All the state’s judges under Fayose are Christians. All the fourteen (14) commissioners in the State are Christians. All the twenty six (26) permanent secretaries are Christians. Fayose only gave Muslims one Special adviser. Special adviser my foot!

“He did not stop there. All the state’s 5-member boards are Christians including only one Muslim is a board member in the whole of Ekiti. The 7-member boards of colleges of education and that of health technology are all Christians.”

“All the sixteen (16) education secretaries are Christians while all the sixteen (16) local government caretaker chairmen are Christians except one.”

“Fayose deliberately impoverished Muslims. Even the Muslim deputy he has picked now is the only local government chairman in the state. So he is not new in Fayose’s administration. It is a dirty trick. Muslims in the state should ‘shine their eyes’ very well.”

“Those who say South West people are tolerant should borrow a leaf from this. It is the Muslims who are bearing the brunt. There is no religious tolerance in the South West. As individual Christians and Muslims, yes.”

“We live together in the same houses and work together in the same workplaces. Christians and Muslims exist in the same families. We also intermarry. But as a body of Muslims, capital ‘NO’. Anything that will benefit South West Muslims or Islam as an institution is always fiercely resisted by South West Christians.”

“The only way to checkmate Fayose now is for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to also pick a Muslim as his running mate. Muslims in the state know Fayemi very well. Unlike Fayose who is a Muslim-hater, Fayemi showed Muslims love when he was governor in the state. Fayemi’s wife, a very decent woman, is a practicing Muslim.”

“It was Fayemi, a Christian governor, who made the bold move of issuing the circular which allowed female Muslim students in the state to use hijab. Fayemi is a liberal to the core.”

“MURIC wants Ekiti Muslims to know their true friends and to know those who want to deceive them. Fool me once, shame on you. But fool me again, shame on me.” There goes the wise saying. We will not be enslaved twice. Was it not Fayose who went on mosque-demolition sprees? Is it so long ago? Who ordered the shutting down of your Arabic classes in Ado Ekiti?

“Was it not the same Fayose who got power-drunk that he publicly lambasted our revered Shaykh Muhyideen the famous Ansarud-deen preacher? Can he do that to his pastor? What did his party do about his atrocities?

“Did they make any attempt to placate Muslims in the state? Fayose is a Muslim hater and Ekiti Muslims should not come near him with a long pole, particularly at this crucial period. Those who have ignored us and oppressed us all this while cannot, with any iota of sincerity, claim to be our friends in election period.”

“In the meantime we exhort all Muslims in Ekiti State to get their PVCs. We are not advocating religion as a criterion in voting. Vote for true democrats and cool-headed politicians. Vote for diligence. Vote for integrity.”

“Avoid Fayose and other unpredictable politicians who have made life miserable for you in the past. Avoid those who demolish your mosques and those who closed your Arabic classes. It is pay back time and the exercise is just beginning. We can’t wait to see Fayose in Kirikiri. The evil that men do…”

PDP Makes Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa Stepdown From Presidential Election Petition Tribual

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar do not accept that the President-elect, Mohammadu Buhari should be declared the winner and therefore he charged Buhari to presidential election petition tribunal. The NIGERIA NEWS recently gathered that the President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa  stepdown from the presidential election petition tribunal.

The PDP with the back of Atiku Abubakar insinutated that Mrs Bulkachuwa is in an affair with an APC member and for the reason that her husband is also a senatior under the All Progressive Congress, APC party, she was then requested to stepdown. However on Wednesday the tribunal challenge the accuse they brought against Mrs. Bulkachuwa that there is no any prove of the judge being bias.

However, Mrs Bulkachuwa stepdown despite the tribunal support. Mr. Atiku the said on Thursday that his, “legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment,”

Below is Atiku Abubakar Speech On Th Matter Of Presidential Election Petition Tribunal

“One of the principal maxims of the Common Law is nemo judex in causa sua (no man shall be a judge in his own case). The call by my legal team for Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa to recuse herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal was predicated on this principle, is that her husband, Alhaji Mohammed Bulkachuwa, is an All Progressives Congress Senator-elect and the case she was expected to adjudicate upon had a bearing on that party.

“My legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment.

“It is with this in mind that I commend Justice Bulkachuwa for recusing herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Panel hearing my petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Her action showed courage and is an act of patriotism. She has, by this action, increased the confidence the public have for the judiciary.

“Not only do I commend her, but I also pray, especially in this holy month of Ramadan, that Justice will be done by the tribunal according to the fear of God and not in keeping with respect for the powers that be.

“May God bless the judiciary and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Again, Buhari Blames Former President Over 'Broken Economy'

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Presidential Villa, Abuja gives a speech which reflected a lot about how he still thinks the former president should be blamed for a ‘Broken Economy’. He also states the reason the ministers were left alone for three and a half years to remain in office, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The NIGERIA NEWS reported that the Democracy day would be shifted to 12th of June, 2019, so that the inauguration day can come up on 29th of May, 2019. As the day of the inauguration is approaching, the day President Mohammadu Buhari would be sworn in for a second tenure, the President gives a statement to address the situation the country has experienced in the past years under the former presidents.

The Presidential statements at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday are as quoted below:

“You will recall that when we started this journey, our country was facing numerous challenges.

“We inherited a broken economy which eventually went into recession in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2016. The situation was further compounded by insecurity and massive corruption.

“Many would have given up. Indeed, many outside commentators said our situation was well nigh hopeless. However, we all came together and pushed forward to deliver our campaign promise to rescue our country from its parlous state.

“Although we all had a common vision, we frequently had heated debates in this room on the best way to achieve our goals. These differing views are what made the decisions we took all the more rational.

“It is this quality that made me retain my cabinet for the full term. Each of you in this room has a unique skill and strength.

“We are a reflection of Nigeria we aspire to achieve – A diverse but tolerant nation where no one is silenced and where every opinion should be heard and considered.’’

The President further speak, recognizing the impact of the ministers in combating terrorism of Boko Haram rule and in diversification agenda into the sectors the Federal Government for the past years do not care about.

“You should be proud to have been part of the government that liberated the local governments previously under Boko Haram rule.

“You should be proud to have contributed to our food security and economic diversification agenda which led to the revival of our rural agrarian economy

“You should be proud to have been part of the team that developed the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan which led Nigeria exiting its worst recession in decades.

“You should be proud to have introduced the social investment program that enhanced livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

“You should be proud to have participated in settling outstanding pensions of many senior citizens abandoned by previous governments while supporting state governments to meet their salary arrears.

“And of course, you should all be proud to have overseen the most ambitious road, rail, and airport rehabilitation programs in the history of our country,’’

The president then finally urge the minister to all other government officials to continue to work earnestly as their tenure is extended to 28th of May, 2019, when they would all be tendering there handing over letters to the office of the secretary to the federal government, as he added below:

“Although today is our last council meeting, I expect all of you to continue working until Tuesday, May 28, 2019, when you will officially hand over your schedules to your respective Permanent Secretaries.

“Your handing over letters should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,’’
