JAMB Suspend Staff, Over N36M Allegedly Swallowed By Snake
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Sunday suspended a sales clerk, Mrs. Philomina Chieshe, who could not account for N36 million on the account that it was mysteriously swallowed by a snake in the board’s office in Makurdi, Benue State.
Mr. Fabian Benjamin, the JAMB Head of Information, made this disclosure while interacting with newsmen, on the board’s effort to unravel the situation and bring all those involved to book.
Benjamin said, “She has been suspended and she is going through all other disciplinary procedures while investigation is ongoing on the matter. Her claim was that a snake came into the office and swallowed the N36m proceeds.”
It was gathered that a team of auditors was dispatched to state offices of JAMB to scrutinize proceeds from the sales of scratch cards and recover money that has either been generated or mismanaged during the period of the sale.
While giving her own account, Mrs Philomina Chieshe, explained to the team of auditors that she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years, stating that her housemaid in connivance with another JAMB staff, Joan Asen, “spiritually” stole the money through a snake from the vault in the accounting office”,
