Rivers: APC states position on Supreme Court ruling on ‘exclusion’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday urged its members and supporters to vote en masse for the party on Saturday.
Chris Finebone, APC Publicity Secretary, Rivers state, said this in a statement which disclosed resolutions at a meeting of the State Working Committee.
It said the party deliberated on the recent court rulings of various courts especially the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt and concluded that the APC and its candidates “will now, most certainly, be on the ballot this Saturday.”
According to him, “No order or judgement given since, including orders given by the Supreme Court on both jurisdiction and representation have said otherwise.
“We opted not to rely on a media circus to convey our right to be included. Unlike the many news reports that were suggesting we were dead and buried, we have since seen the orders and the Supreme Court judgement on the stay of execution which proves beyond reasonable doubt that INEC has an obligation to relist APC or risk being sanctioned for excluding us and disobeying a subsisting court order.
“We hail once again both decisions of the stay of execution, taken by the Court of Appeal recently and their reaffirmation of both yesterday. These decisions mean that nothing is stopping INEC from placing APC on the ballot. We welcome the moves by INEC to put us back on the ballot, as the alternative would have confirmed once and for all, the genuine fear that they are working for the PDP.
“We wish to state advisedly that obedience to the rule law is the best antidote to anarchy. In the circumstances, we urge INEC to speedily implement the rule of law and return our great party to its rightful place. We are only demanding a right to compete.
“We have passed the stage of worrying if we will be on the ballot. We must now prepare to punish those who have been trying to keep us out of the elections with our votes. With these same votes, we must give Mr. President our full support.”

Nigeria Decides: Osinbajo reveals what Pastor Adeboye told him before 2015 elections
Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has revealed that Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), prophesied to him four times that he would be Nigeria’s second in command in 2015.
Osinbajo stated this yesterday, while speaking during a special day of prayer for the general election, organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State Chapter, at Eliel Centre, Jos.
Four years ago, Osinbajo and his principal President Muhammadu Buhari, defeated the incumbent government at the polls.
With this year’s election holding tomorrow, the vice-president has admonished pastors across interdenominational churches in Plateau State, to pray and fast for a free, fair and peaceful Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“I urge you to continue to pray and fast for those of us in government; especially, pray for me and the Saturday elections,” Osinbajo said.
He said after God saved his life from the recent helicopter crash, “God gave me a verse in the Holy Bible of Luke 13:13, and I know the devil can not interfer with the plans of God for this nation.
“When I was picked as the presidential running mate in 2014, I ran to meet my father, Pastor Adeboye, and told him.
“Since it was the will of God, he told me, four times, that I would be the vice president of Nigeria and he blessed me.”
Nigeria Decides: PDP attacks Buhari over address to Nigerians, reveals what’ll happen to him on Saturday
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s nationwide speech.
PDP described Buhari’s speech as a “last gasp of a drowning administration, laced with fabrications and false performances” claims which is the “characteristic of a “failed leader, who has been rejected by the people.”
In a statement by its spokesperson, the former opposition party said Buhari should apologise for his failure and not resort to making academic speech.
The statement reads: “It rather too late in the day for President Buhari to redeem himself with an academic speech as Nigerians, having moved ahead with the people’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are no longer ready to listen to his list of false promises and a long claim of non-existent achievements.
“It is ludicrous that at a time President Buhari should be remorseful and apologize for his failures that led to the biting economic hardship, hunger, job losses, killings and escalated bloodletting in our country, under his watch, he chose to engage in a last minute attempt to sway
Nigerians with falsehood.
“Nigerians watched a President Buhari, who, having seen the handwriting on the wall, struggled with false economic growth figures and sought to blackmail the people with claims of non-existent food security and false assurances of safety in a nation heavily plagued by unemployment, loss of jobs, poverty as well as escalated insurgency and banditry.
“Nigerians watched as President Buhari claimed a rise in foreign reserves but failed to accept responsibility for the huge rise in our nation’s debt and the fact that our nation has become the poverty capital of the
“Furthermore, how would President Buhari want anybody to take his assurance of safety of members of global democratic institutions working for peaceful elections in our country, after his presidency threatened
the international community and endorsed the threats by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, that such foreigners will return to their country in body bags.
“We counsel President Buhari to note that he has come to the end of the road and that Nigerians are no longer with him. He should therefore end all his rigging plots and allow Nigerians to rebuild our nation under the leadership of Atiku Abubakar, whom they have reached a
consensus to vote in as the next President of our country.
