NCDMB Says Peace In Bayelsa Aided To Attract More Oil And Gas Sector Investment

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) said on Saturday that the prevailing peace in Bayelsa helped to attract more oil and gas sector investment to the area.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Simbi Wabote, made this known in Yenagoa at the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Swali community civic centre by an indigenous oil services firm operating in the area.

Wabote, therefore, praised Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa for the prevailing peace in the state.

He said that the Dickson administration had made Bayelsa safer and conducive to both live and to do business in.

He said that the just concluded NCDMB conference was a remarkable pointer to the peace that exist in the state and urged the government to sustain it.

“Let me commend the government of Bayelsa State for the prevailing peace in the state.

“Those who attended the just concluded NCDMB conference took away fond memories because of the peace that exist here.

“They were also highly impressed with the remarks made by His Excellency, the governor,’’ Wabote said.

The NCDMB boss urged members of the Swali community to ensure to safeguard the hall and the facilities in it, as that would encourage companies to implement more projects for the benefit of the community.

He also urged members of the community to take advantage of the new community content policy that would be implemented by the NCDMB.

According to him, the new community content policy is a long-term plan for sustainable development of communities.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, lauded the management of the company for building the town hall for the community.

According to him, state government is always willing to partner with companies for the development of communities and empowerment of the people.

Iworiso-Markson said that the successful completion of the town hall would make the people of Swali community to live peacefully in order to attract more development to the area.

The Information Commissioner added that the present administration will fulfill its promise to the community and called for more support for the government.

The paramount ruler of Swali community, Chief Wilcox Job, expressed appreciation to the company for building the town hall and for training the youths in the community on various skills.

He gave an assurance that members of the community would work assiduously to sustain the peace in the area.

In his remarks, Mr Harcourt Aduke, the Managing Director, Megastar Technical and Construction Company, said that the company donated the centre because it saw the community’s need for it.

He pledged that the company would always endeavour to remain alive to its corporate social responsibility.
