NYSC gives Prospective Corps Members travelling tips

Published

on

NYSC News

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed some travelling tips to Prospective Corps Members (PCM) who will be travelling across the length and breadth of the country to the various NYSC Camps for the exercise.

The Orientation Programme for the 2019 Batch “B” Stream 1 Corps Members will commence tomorrow, Tuesday, 18th June 2019 nationwide.

The Corps urged PCMs tp adhere strictly to the following tips:

  1. Every successful journey starts with a travel plan. PCMs, are enjoined to make adequate travel preparation before setting out on the journey. Therefore, you must ensure and crosscheck that you’ve packed all the relevant documents that will be requested at the point of registration. This is to guard against the danger of being asked to go back home and fetch the forgotten documents. Doing so will overexpose you to our roads fraught with so many risks.

  2. Kindly research your destinations thoroughly before leaving.

3, On no account should you board a vehicle by the roadside because of seemingly attractive cheap fare. It is highway to calamity. So many have fallen preys to armed robbers, kidnappers and ritualists due to such indiscreet action. You should board vehicles only from recognised parks.

  1. Please, be conscious of your travel time. Journeys must be arranged in such a way that you arrive your destination latest 6 pm. Note that if it’s not possible to arrive your destination at the aforesaid time, please, break the journey.

  2. Avoid unnecessary argument/discussion bordering on politics and religion, among others. You may unwittingly cause offence. Keep your views to yourself.

  3. Be courteous, but don’t trust people too quickly and don’t be loud while answering telephone calls, so as not to unknowingly divulge information that may place you on harm’s way.

  4. Watch your drinking habit. Alcohol dulls your senses. Always be sober.

  5. Take only what you need for the journey. Don’t overburden yourself with load.

  6. Dress normal. Don’t overdress. Conversely, don’t dress shabbily, since either way, you unduly stand out.

  7. Please, keep a very close watch over your personal effects. It is advisable that you carry your vital documents (certificates, International passport etc) on you.

  8. Don’t put valuables in your back pocket for that’s always the pickpocket’s first point of call. It’s safer to use your front pocket.

  9. Keep your family and trusted friends updated on your itinerary.

The Director – General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim wishes you travel mercies, as you proceed to the respective camps in obedience to the clarion call to serve the Nation for one calendar year.

See WAEC’s latest advice to its certificate holders

Published

on

WAEC Geography

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has advised people in possession of its certificates to guard them well, as it will not re-issue on account of misplacement, fire, flood or theft.

This was stated by the council’s Head of National Office, Olu Adenipekun,  in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

According to him, the advice became necessary as lots of people have been approaching the council at various times for a re-issue of the lost certificates.

“Let me make it clear that in the real sense of it, our certificates are issued only once, irrespective of who is involved or the circumstance that led to the misplacement, and that remains the truth of the matter.

“We do not issue our West African Senior School Certificates Examination (WASSCE) twice.

“But, if we have such cases of theft, fire, flood and others, as it concerns these certificates, yes, in reaction to our operational environment, we can consider the issuance of an ‘attestation certificate,” he stated.

He further revealed that the council had met five years ago and took the decision, saying no examination body issues two of its certificates to a single candidate in one examination.

“But, if a candidate should experience such losses through fire, flood or theft and can provide all the necessary proofs required to that effect, that will show such things actually happened to his or her certificate, there are certain steps such candidates are expected to take before approaching the council for further action,” he said.

The WAEC chief explained that after all such processes had been satisfactorily concluded then, the council would consider the issuance of “Attestation Certificate”.
