What Buhari Said In Kaduna on Friday
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday inaugurated the Command and Control Centre of the Kaduna State Surveillance and Monitoring System, set up to enhance security in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project cost the state government over N1.24 billion, and included the use of drones and CCT cameras to track and respond to any criminal activity across the state.
Buhari arrives Daura ahead of Saturday’s election
resident Muhammadu Buhari arrived his home town of Daura on Thursday ahead of the Governorship and State Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Buhari landed at the Daura Helipad in a Presidential Chopper marked NAF-541 at 6:50 p.m. in company with his aides and close family members.
The president was received by the Emir of Daura, Farouk Umar, his kinsmen, and hundreds of well-wishers.
PDP still has questions to answer on ‘squandered wealth’ — Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) owes Nigerians explanations on how it expended the resources that accrued to the country from oil sales between 1999 and 2014.
Mr Buhari also described the 16 years of rule of the PDP as an era of “unprecedented, irresponsible expenditure”.
He said this during an audience with the leadership of organised labour comprising Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by the NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, who were on a congratulatory visit.
INEC to present new senators, reps certificates of return Thursday
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present certificates of return to the newly-elected members of the National Assembly next Thursday.
The chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this at a meeting of INEC with the Inter-Agency Consultative on Election Security (ICCES).
The meeting held at the conference hall of the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
“The Commission will issue their certificates of return next week,” Mr Yakubu said.

Elections: Akwa Ibom declares Friday public holiday
The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday as public holiday ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections in the state.
Charles Udoh, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, announced this in a statement in Uyo, the state capital on Thursday.
He said the holiday was to enable public servants in the state to travel to their Local Government Areas to participate in the Saturday’s elections.
Don’t pity El-Rufai, vote him out – Shi’ite tells members
The Islamic Movement In Nigeria, IMN, known as Shi’ites has called on its members to come out en masse and vote out governor Nasir el-Rufai in the gubernatorial polls billed for March 9.
A member of the Resource Forum, IMN, Mohammed Ibrahim Gamawa, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday instructed members to neglect calls by Sheikh Saleh Zaria that Shi’ites should support el-Rufai.
In a reaction to reports that Sheikh Zaria has endorsed Governor El-Rufai, he said, “Sheikh Saleh Zaria is not a member of IMN, hence, what he said cannot have effect on our members.”
Peter Obi warns APC over Governorship election
Mr Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Feb. 23 election, has called for peaceful and credible polls on March 9.
Obi made the call in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Onitsha, saying that free and fair elections were required to strengthen the nation’s democracy.
He urged the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government not to allow the alleged electoral malpractices witnessed during the Feb. 23 elections reflect in Saturday’s exercise, NAN reports
BREAKING: Kwara Governorship Election: Labour Party withdraws from race, endorses APC candidate
The Labour Party on Thursday endorsed AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Saturday’s governorship election in Kwara State.
Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Comrade Issa Aremu announcing withdrawal from the race, said the development marked the beginning of liberation from one party which had ruled the state for 16 years.
At a brief ceremony held at the Africa’s People hall of Mustapha Akanbi Foundation, Ilorin, labour leaders and scores of members of both Labour Party and APC embraced the development.
