Neymar’s PSG Buddy, Dani Alves has weighed in on the reason his teammate had to quit the Camp Nou for the Parc Des Princes in the summer.

Dani Alves and Neymar who have been teammates in both Barcelona and Brazil before both securing summer moves to the French capital have once again become fast buddies.

In an interview with the official FIFA Website, Alves opened up that Neymar had to leave Barcelona because he was always under the shadow of Lionel Messi and he had to go somewhere else to prove that he has the talent also.

Alves said: “I think he’s up there with Messi as the most influential player in world football.”

“The thing is, he had to come out of his shadow a little. Playing with someone as unique as Leo is the most incredible thing that can happen to you.

“But there’s always that doubt in your mind if it’s you that really has the quality or if it’s him.”

So far, Neymar has been a big hit for the Parisians, having scored 26 goals in just 24 matches but he has also courted controversy both on and off the pitch for the Ligue 1 leaders.

This has led to talks that the former Santos and Barcelona player might be allowed to join Real Madrid just a season after completing a World_record move for 222 million Euros.
