I Am Proud Of PSG – Neymar Commends Teammates Despite Home Defeat To Real Madrid
Paris Saint Germain talisman, Neymar, said he was proud of his teammates’ performance against Real Madrid despite their 2-1 loss to Zidane’s men in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second round clash at the Parc Des Princes on Tuesday, March 6.
A goal each from midfielder Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half of the game ended all the hope of Coach Emery’s men qualification to the next stage of the competition.
Recall that Real Madrid secured a 3-1 victory over the French Ligue 1 leaders at Bernabeu stadium in Spain three weeks ago.
The Spanish club is now qualified to the next game of the competition having defeated PSG on 5-2 aggregate.
However, injured Neymar said he was not happy with the outcome of the game, saying he was sorry for not being available for his side in the crucial game against the Los Blancos.
On the other hand, the 26-year-old Brazilian feels satisfied with the performance of his teammates that played against Real Madrid.
“I’m sad for the loss, much sadder for not being on the field helping my teammates!! What makes me proud is to see everyone’s effort. Congratulations mon gars, ALLEZ PARIS.”
Following their ouster in the Champions League, Coach Unai Emery’s men still stand a chance of winning the three trophies this season, as they are currently topping the Ligue 1 table, and are in the Coupe de la Ligue final and the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.
The French leaders haven’t gone beyond the quarterfinals of the Champions League in the last 10 years, and their enormous win in the competition is their 7-1 win over Celtic in November 2017.
