1. Saraki loses international appointment as Ambassador-at-large
Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has finally lost appointment as Ambassador-at-large of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) for not meeting up with the necessary protocols demanded of the office.
In a letter issued and signed by head of the Nigerian Office, Dr. Friday Sani which was made available to DAILY POST in Abuja on Thursday, Dr Saraki was not forthcoming despite several meetings with officials of the International agency.
2. Akwa Ibom Gov, Emmanuel loses against EFCC
Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Thursday, dismissed an application filed by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, seeking to quash the entire charge preferred against Paul Usoro, SAN, President, Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Usoro was charged alongside Udom and others in a case of money laundering to the tune of N1.4 billion, belonging to the Akwa Ibom State government.
The NBA President was first arraigned before Justice Muslim Hassan of the same court on December 18, 2018.
3. Okorocha reacts to his reported arrest by EFCC, reveals those responsible
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has reacted to his reported arrest, alongside his wife on Thursday.
Report went viral on Thursday that the Governor and his wife were arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The EFCC has, however, denied arresting the Governor in a telephone chat with DAILY POST.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha denied the arrest, describing it as propaganda by the present government.
4. Buhari reacts to death of Animasaun, Gomwalk
President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of journalist, Kola Animasaun.
Animasaun died at the age of 79.
A statement Thursday night by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as offering his deepest condolences to the Animasaun family and friends, including the management of Vanguard Media Limited, publishers of Vanguard Newspapers, where the late veteran newsman spent many years as a formidable columnist.
The President also commiserated with the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
5. Okorocha: Ohanaeze talks tough, speaks on sacred cows
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, Worldwide has called for caution over the reported arrest of the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
OYC spoke in a statement by its President-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
DAILY POST reports that earlier in the day, there were reports that Okorocha and his wife were nabbed by the Economic and Financial Crimes and Commission, EFCC.
6. Apapa: What Sanwo-Olu said about gridlock during visit
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Thursday assured residents in the Apapa area of the state that plans were on the way to find a lasting solution to the gridlock in the area.
Sanwo-Olu, while on an inspection tour of traffic situation in Apapa, said that the traffic problem in the area and its environs was multi-faceted.
He said it required joint efforts by the State government, their federal counterpart and stakeholders to find a lasting solution.
7. Labour reacts to Makinde’s sack of Oyo LG chairmen hours after inauguration
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State chapter, has told its members to disregard Gov. Seyi Makinde’s directive dissolving the councils.
ALGON Chairman in the state, Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, said at a news conference in Ibadan on Thursday that the governor’s action was illegal.
Makinde had in a statement by his Chief of Staff, Oyebisi Ilaka on Wednesday, announced the dissolution of all the councils and Local Development Areas (LCDAs).
8. Okorocha: Ihedioha demolishes monument commissioned by Osinbajo last week
Barely 24hrs after his inauguration, Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo has commended demolition of monuments in the capital city of Owerri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the demolition started on Thursday with the Akachi tower, a monument built by the immediate past administration of Mr Rochas Okorocha and commissioned by the Vice president Yemi Osinbajo on May 17.
The tower which had the symbol of a hand on its zenith was erected on a dumpsite which was reclaimed by the Okorocha administration.
9. Reps vow to investigate Army killing of Igbo men in Rivers
The House of Representatives has moved to investigate the alleged summary execution of two Igbo men in Ogoniland by the Nigerian Army.
The move was sequel to the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Army headed by Hon. Rimande Shawulu Kwevum on the investigation of the crisis in Ogoni land, Rivers State.
The 6-clause report was considered and adopted by the lawmakers at the Committee of the Whole on Thursday.
10. APC chieftain demands Oshiomhole’s resignation, reveals Chairman’s resolve in Edo, Kogi, Ondo guber
Another leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has called for the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to step aside in the interest of the party.
A chieftain of the APC in Rivers state, Kingsley Wali, who is the latest to make this call, said Oshiomhole is responsible for the predicament the party suffered in different parts of the country in the build-up to the just-concluded general elections.
Wali, who is a lawyer, said that APC as a party should take a collective decision to ease out Oshiomhole to avert further damage to its fortunes.

Kogi Guber: Yahaya Bello Campaign Director-General Regrets Campaigning For Him

Dr. Yakubu Ugwolawo begs the Igala people for forgiveness in campaigning for the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. Dr. Yakubu is the Director-General for the Yahaya Bello campaign group in the year 2015 under the All Progressive Congress, APC, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
He offered the apology statement at the Justice Forum meeting of the APC held in Ankpa.
Besides the fact of regretting his action, he also nullifies himself from campaigning for the incumbent Governor in the election that would be coming up by 16th of November, 2019.
However, he is the one who led about 407 Igala delegates to vote against late Abubakar Audu who happened to be the opposition candidate to Yahaya Bello. Because of the disappointment experienced in the Governor first term, he then, pleaded to the Igala community to forgive him.
He further stated:
“I’m using this medium to apologize to the entire Igala nation for fielding Alhaji Bello in 2015 primary which made him the first runner up to our late leader Prince Abubakar Audu. I regret supporting him. Please forgive me. I regret my action for leading 407 Igala delegates to vote against our own brother. So far, Bello’s performance showed that he does not mean well for our people”.
An APC member, Goodman Akwu express the flaws in the Bello’s administration by stating the following:
“Governor Bello from available records has collected over N335 billion. We have these records from the office of the auditor general and ministry of finance. We also learned that he has hidden a huge amount of money to persecute his re-election bid. So, we must stand against this because his government is anti-people. If I were to be him, I will bow out because he has failed the young generation.
“Bello who happened to be an opportunist worked against the APC when he lost the primary against our late leader. He came into power by accident, and now the State is bleeding since he assumed office. Whoever that is amplifying Bello’s ‘Enemuneme’ slogan from Kogi East is a disappointment to Igala race.”
