Jonathan reveals Governors who caused his defeat to Buhari

Former Nigeria president, Goodluck Joanthan has claimed that former Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who defected to the then opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), because they were “blinded by ambition” and a barrage of “fake news”, cost him his bid to be re-elected for a second term in office.

Jonathan made the claim in a book about his tenure in office titled: “My Transition Hours” which was launched on Tuesday.

The ex-president lost the election to incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari, with just over 2.5 million votes.

2019: Goodluck Jonathan speaks on vote buying, advises INEC

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday in Abuja, expressed concern over increased cases of vote buying in Nigeria, ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Jonathan said that vote buying was gradually replacing other forms of electoral malpractice and had become scandalous and placed the country in bad light.

Female farmers under the umbrella of Small-Scale Women Farmers’ Organisation in Nigeria (SWOFON) have called for the restoration of scrapped Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) scheme.

Major General Bamidele Ashafa, Team Leader of Operation Safe Corridor has disclosed that about 250 repentant Boko Haram insurgents have benefited from the federal government’s rehabilitation and reintegration program to ensure they become productive members of the society.

The Team Leader made this disclosure during a town hall meeting on Monday in Damaturu organised by the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI) for traditional rulers and religious scholars on how to fully accept repentant Boko Haram members back into the society.
