We members of the Akoko Youth Alliance AYA have adopted and thrown our full weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as the right and credible candidate to represent the constituency at the House of Representatives in 2019.

Oshiomhole’s reforms versus aggrieved party stalwarts

It is, therefore, not surprising that we could have forgotten too soon, some conflict of interest which arose within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the end of John Odigie-Oyegun’s tenure and at the wake of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the party. We may have also forgotten the hurdles that Oshiomhole crossed to become the national chairman of the party because some individuals did not support the reforms which President Muhammadu Buhari intends to bring into the party through a personality like Oshiomhole.

Campaign promises and 2019 election

Political campaigns  have no doubt become an integral part of modern democracy.   Ordinarily, its basic essence allows candidates to sell their party programme and  launch efforts to convince voters to support them in an election.

But often times, campaigns, especially in developing democracies  such as Nigeria,   are easily turned into  an opportunity  to  tell the electorate   exact opposite of what lies   in   the heart of the campaigner; spin  tissues  of lies about  candidates capacity;  boast   about unfounded   achievements,  and   slur  and attack   opponents  sometimes with  ferocious and fiendish  intensity.
