1. Osun Guber: What court decided on Senator Adeleke’s case on Thursday

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, which will determine Senator Ademola Adeleke’s eligibility in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State, has been adjourned till May 8, 2019.

NAN reports that the appellate court had on April 25, adjourned hearing on the appeal on account of improper service.

At the resumed sitting on Thursday, a similar situation resurfaced and it forced the Justice Abubakar Yayaha led-panel to move hearing.

Yahaya said the matter could not be heard, because of a pending Notice of Appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the same matter.

2. House of Reps invites Buhari over killings

The House of Representatives, on Thursday invited President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation on measures taken to tackle rising cases of killings, banditry, armed robbery and kidnappings.

This followed a motion on the urgent “Need for Federal Government’s Intervention on the Ongoing Wanton Killing of Innocent Persons, Destruction of Property, Armed Robbery and Kidnappings by Heavily Armed Bandits Operating Within Safana/Batsari/Dansamu Federal Constituency”.

The motion was moved by Rep. Ahmed Dayyabu-Safana (APC-Katsina) at plenary, NAN reports.

3. Benue, Zamfara killings: You have abandoned your duties, return home – PDP to Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday charged President Muhammadu Buhari to end his “private visit” abroad and immediately return home to face the deteriorated security situation in the country.

PDP gace the charge while lamenting that Buhari had practically abandoned his responsibilities as Commander-in-Chief.

A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan described as “completely unacceptable for President Buhari to practically abandon his responsibilities, as the Commander-In-Chief, at least for now, to pursue unexplained private matters in foreign lands, while bandits, marauders and insurgents seize our nation; maim, kidnap and kill our citizens with reckless abandon”.

4. Buhari vs Atiku: You’re bunch of hypocrites – Ex-VP attacks APC members

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described the All Progressives Congress, APC, as home to hypocrites who speak from both sides of the mouth.

Atiku said that rather than providing evidence to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s supposed victory at the poll, chieftains of the ruling party were busy chasing trivialities to hoodwink innocent Nigerians.

The former Vice President stated this through a spokesman of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, Kassim Afegbua in a chat with Vanguard on Thursday.

5. 2019 Recruitment: NIS reveals plans for scammers

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it is collaborating with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the police to tackle the activities of recruitment scammers.

The Comptroller-General of the Service, Mr Muhammad Babandede, said this in a parley with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, NAN reports.

The C-G, who noted that the issue of fake recruitment sites had been on the increase in recent times, warned that the service was not recruiting yet.

178 new members-elect on Thursday declared support for Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamilla, to emerge Speaker of the 9th Assembly.

Hon. Onofiuk Luke, Speaker of Akwa-Ibom State, who spoke on behalf of the other members at New Chelsea Hotel in Abuja, said they were endorsing Gbajabiamiila because he is the most qualified.

His words: “I am the Speaker of Akwa-Ibom State and here with me; are newly-elected members of the House of Representatives and this is a conglomeration of people of different parties. I am of the PDP. We have members of the APC here.

9. Popular actress, Omotola slams Jonathan govt

Popular Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has slammed the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, for allegedly wasting the country’s resources while it held sway for about six years.

The Nollywood actress, in a post on her Twitter handle, said Nigerians only appeared to desire a return to the Jonathan days only because the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari performed ‘below par.’

She wrote: “Jonathan administration was wasteful. Although, it was a way better time than now, it was not the best for Nigerians anyway.

10. APC: Supreme Court fixes date to hear appeals by Zamfara gov-elect, others

The Supreme Court will on May 16 hear appeals filed by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections in Zamfara State.

Zamfara Governor-elect, Mukhtar Shehu Idris and elected members of the state’s House of Assembly filed the appeals against the March 25, 2019 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Sokoto.

The Court of Appeal had, in its judgment, set aside the judgment by the Zamfara State High Court, which upheld the primaries conducted by the APC and allowed it to field candidates for the 2019 general elections.

All EPL New Rules For The 2019/2020 Season

The International Football Association Board, IFAB, has affirmed English Premier League, EPL new rules and changes for the 2019/2020 season. The new principles would influence the Freekicks, Handball, Substitution, Drop ball and cards for coaches, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The Video Aide Ref popularly known as VAR would so be implemented by next season in the English Premier League, EPL. The aforementioned areas where there would be new implementation would surely have a great effect in the league.

 

EPL New Rules Ahead 2019/2020 Season…

 

SUBSTITUTION

The rule that would be implemented under this is that there would be no chance given to any players to waste time on the pitch anymore, as substituted players would have to leave the pitch at the closest side of the pitch and card may probably be awarded for wasting time.

PENALTY KICKS

The Goalkeepers would, therefore, have to have a foot put on the line and would not be allowed to touch the goal posts before the shoot out of the penalty kicks. In this manner, no Goalkeeper would be able to exploit any chance to avert an opportunity to lead.

COACHES CARDS

The coach would also have to be carded by the Referee in a similar as players were being carded during a match. Both yellow and red cards would also be applicable to coaches as well as starting from next season.

HANDBALLS

  • The goal would be denied if the ball actually strikes any player’s hand during the development to have a goal.

“To prevent that team gaining an unfair advantage, all players of both teams, except the player receiving the ball, must be at least 4m (4.5 yds) away.”
