1. Presidential election: How Buhari govt ‘arm-twisted’ INEC into tampering with result – Secondus alleges
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Chairman, Uche Secondus, on Friday alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal government arm-twisted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, into tampering with the result of the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections.
He made the claim while addressing a press conference entitled “Do we still have a government?” at the PDP Headquarters in Abuja.
Secondus also stated that there was no evidence that President Buhari was in charge of the country.
2. Osun West: Court asked to remove PDP’s Adeleke from Senate
The Federal High Court Abuja was on Friday asked to decide whether Ademola Adeleke still qualified to be a serving Senator having been found guilty of forging the Secondary School Certificate he used in contesting election.
This is contained in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2019 and filed by Akinwale Olaniyi and Akinjide Monsuru and made available to newsmen by their Counsel, Mr Ola Adeosun in Abuja.
The other respondents are the Peoples Democratic Party, the Senate, Senate President and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
3. Senate issues final ultimatum on Apapa gridlock
As part of efforts to end the gridlock on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, the Senate Committee on Works, on Friday advocated co-operation of various government agencies to make port operations easier.
The committee, during an emergency meeting with stakeholders in Lagos as part of its oversight functions, condemned extortion of truck drivers and asked law enforcement and traffic regulatory agencies to investigate and punish erring officers.
It called for a multi-sector approach between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to give waivers to encourage use of other Eastern ports to decongest Apapa.
4. El-Rufai appoints Joy Akut as Vice-Chair of Kaura LGA
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has appointed erudite scholar, Ms. Joy Akut as Vice-Chair of the Interim Management Committee of Kaura Local Government Area.
This is coming barely four weeks to the end of El-Rufai’s first term in office.
Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Senior Special Assistant to the governor made this disclosure in a statement on Friday evening.
According to him, “Joy Akut steps into this role from her previous position as a Special Adviser (Women and Youth Affairs) to Dr. Bege Katuka, the chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Kaura Local Government Council.
5. NEMA gives update on 4 kidnapped staff
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Friday that it was making effort to ensure the release of its abducted staff.
Mr Vincent Owan, Director, Disaster Risk Reduction, NEMA, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Owan recalled that four of the agency staff who were mandated to carry out National Food Security Intervention in Rivers were abducted by unknown gunmen on Tuesday at Ahoada, along East-West road.
6. Shell personnel abducted, policemen killed
Two staff of Shell Nigeria have been kidnapped in Rivers State.
Two police escorts were also killed during the kidnap, The Nation reports.
The incident happened along the Ahoada-Ndele-Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West road, Rivers State.
The two kidnapped senior staff members of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) were said to be returning from an official trip from the Bayelsa state when they were attacked.
7. New minimum wage: Government begins negotiations with NLC
Oyo State Government has opened negotiations on the new minimum wage, as it congratulated the newly elected officers of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, on Friday in Ibadan.
The NLC in the state on Thursday elected its new officers with Mr Adebayo Titilolola-Sodo as the new State Chairman.
8. Lagos rerun: Police announces restriction of movement
The Lagos State Police Command says there will be restriction of movement during Saturday’s Federal Constituency rerun elections in Ajeromi/Ifelodun areas of the state.
The Spokesman for the command, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement on Friday, said that the movements restriction would be in force between 6a.m. and 3p.m. on Saturday.
“In view of the rerun elections for Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency scheduled to take place on Saturday, Lagos State Police Command has placed restrictions on vehicular and mass movements of persons from 6a.m. to 3p.m. in Ajegunle, Layeni, Amukoko, Ijora Badia, Trinity and Tolu.
9. Nigerian Air Force releases list of candidates shortlisted for 2019 recruitment, interview dates
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has released the list of successful candidates shortlisted for the Year 2019 NAF Recruitment Final Selection Interview.
This was contained in a statement on Friday signed by Air Vice Marshal ME Ahmed, on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
It asked the candidates to report in batches for the exercise scheduled to take place at the NAF Base in Kawo, Kaduna State.
10. PDP vows to stop at nothing in sacking ex-governor Orji Kalu as senator-elect
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia North Senatorial District has told senator-elect, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) that he can’t get away with what it termed “a stolen mandate”.
The PDP made their stand known on Friday during a solidarity visit to the incumbent Senator, Chief Mao Ohuabunwa to pledge their unflinching support in his bid to recover his “stolen mandate.”
Abia North Zonal Chairman of PDP, Hon Matthew Ibe, said that the PDP as one united family would stop at nothing until “the people’s mandate given to our candidate but forcefully stolen by APC is returned “.

All EPL New Rules For The 2019/2020 Season
The International Football Association Board, IFAB, has affirmed English Premier League, EPL new rules and changes for the 2019/2020 season. The new principles would influence the Freekicks, Handball, Substitution, Drop ball and cards for coaches, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
The Video Aide Ref popularly known as VAR would so be implemented by next season in the English Premier League, EPL. The aforementioned areas where there would be new implementation would surely have a great effect in the league.
EPL New Rules Ahead 2019/2020 Season…
The rule that would be implemented under this is that there would be no chance given to any players to waste time on the pitch anymore, as substituted players would have to leave the pitch at the closest side of the pitch and card may probably be awarded for wasting time.
The Goalkeepers would, therefore, have to have a foot put on the line and would not be allowed to touch the goal posts before the shoot out of the penalty kicks. In this manner, no Goalkeeper would be able to exploit any chance to avert an opportunity to lead.
The coach would also have to be carded by the Referee in a similar as players were being carded during a match. Both yellow and red cards would also be applicable to coaches as well as starting from next season.
- The goal would be denied if the ball actually strikes any player’s hand during the development to have a goal.
