1. Kano governorship result: Ganduje reacts as INEC declares election inconclusive

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s media aide, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of the governorship election in Kano State as inconclusive.

DAILY POST had reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday declared Kano governorship election inconclusive.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Riskuwa Shehu, declared the election inconclusive due to high number of cancelled votes in comparison to margin between APC and PDP candidates.

According to the REC, the decision was constitutional.

DAILY POST reports that in the results announced so far, Gov Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was leading his closest rival, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a margin of 3,413 votes while 75, 403 votes were cancelled.

The Kano State Police Command has reacted to reports that the state’s Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna was arrested for attempting to manipulate results of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Gawuna was reported to have stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Collation Centre in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state and attempted to manipulate the election figures.

7. Delta guber: Ibori reacts as Okowa wins second term

A former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, has congratulated the people of the state for choosing “peace and unity”, by re-electing Ifeanyichukwu Okowa, incumbent governor of the state.

Okowa, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday’s election, polled 925,274 votes to defeat Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 215, 938 votes.

Ibori, in a statement by his media assistant, Tony Eluemunor, said Deltans’ wise choice has saved the state from conflict.

8. PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha floors AA, APC, wins Imo governorship election.

A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, has been declared winner of the governorship election in Imo State.

He polled 273,404 to defeat candidate of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu, Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law who polled a total of 190,364.

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeanyi Ararumecame third with 114, 676 while Hope Uzondima of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 96,458.

9. EPL: Salah ready to sacrifice Champions League trophy for league title

Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah, has said he is ready to sacrifice his own Champions League dream, to help the Reds win their first Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently second in the league, one point behind Manchester City with eight games to go.

A Nigerian passenger on Delta Air Lines Flight DL54 travelling from Atlanta, United States to Lagos was on Monday afternoon found unresponsive before landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The 54-year-old passenger (name withheld), who was ill before boarding the flight, died three minutes before the aircraft touched down at the airport
