3. Ebonyi APC rejects zoning formula for Saturday’s state congress

In a statement signed in Abakaliki and issued to newsmen by the embattled State chairman, Chief Ben Nwobasi and the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Ngaji Nwodo, the party declared the adopted zoning formula by the Minister  null and void as it does not represent the general interest and wishes of party members in the state. The statement read in part:

“That we condemn in its entirety the purported re-zoning done in   disregard to the guidelines for the state congress as we wish to state that the 2014 zoning formula remains as directed by the party.

“We state categorically that  the new zoning formula as adopted by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and his cohorts is null and void and does not represent the general interest and wishes of the party members in the state

“It  is therefore unfortunate that this anti-party activity and indiscipline is being championed by Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who is a serving minister in the government of the ruling party.

“That we hereby resolve and it is resolved that the zoning formula as at 2014 congress remains intact in Ebonyi state.

Therefore, party faithful and interested contestants for the state congress should prepare to run for the state congress in the state according to the APC’s guidelines and zoning formula as at 2014.

“That the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and his cohorts cannot be allowed to perpetrate such illegality in Ebonyi  state for their selfish end.

We state therefore that the purported re-zoning is a sabotage intended to further deplete the electoral fortunes of the APC in Ebonyi state in the 2019 general elections.”

Recall that a factional group of the APC loyal to the minister had on Monday, 14 May at Nkwegu Ugbala Grand Arena in Abakaliki adopted a zoning formula for all the 39 executive positions which according to them was aimed at executing a peaceful and rancour-free congress which would help to position the party for the 2019 governorship election in the state.

ABAKALIKI—THE Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday after its State Working Committee/Stakeholders meeting in Abakaliki, condemned and rejected the purported zoning formula adopted by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and other members loyal to him.

4. ONDO APC CONGRESS: Faction insists on recognition

The Representatives of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, SSS, Police and Civil Defence were witnesses after which the results were submitted to APC State and National Headquarters.

“We urge the national leadership of APC not to accept any result compiled by the minority group led by the State Chairman of APC, Ade Adetimehin as such did not comply with Congress guidelines, for failure to pay for nomination forms as at when due.”

However, a chieftain of the party and a senatorial aspirant, Dr. Olatunji Felder described those behind the alleged parallel congresses as desperate detractors.

Felder said: “For the avoidance of doubt, I make bold to say that the congresses were peaceful and represent the feelings and aspirations of majority members of the party.”

AKURE — CRISIS in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State deepened, yesterday, as a faction of the party has insisted on being recognised ahead of tomorrow’s state congress.

At a press conference in Akure, Chief Deji Fanibuyan, factional APC Chairman of Akure South, Daodu Bolakale, factional Chairman, Akoko South-West Local government area and Eyitayo Ogunleye, Chairman, Ipogun Ward, who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved chieftains of the party across the 18 council areas, said it was

“unacceptable and anti-democratic the rejection of their complaints about irregularities that trailed the party’s local governments and ward congresses in the state by the APC congress Appeal committee.”

The aggrieved chieftains urged the national leadership of APC “not to accept any result compiled by the State Executive led by the Acting Chairman, Ade Adetimehin as such did not comply with congress guidelines.”

The APC faction which blamed the party officials from Abuja for the violence and paralleled Congresses in the state, appealed to other aggrieved members across the 18 local government areas to remain calm as necessary lawful means would be taken to redress the situation.

They said: “We validly followed the APC guidelines for the congresses by paying for nomination forms but the APC Congress Committee for Ondo State refused to issue nomination forms to us for the purpose of the respective congresses.

5. Kachikwu lauds DPR over digitalisation of crude account

Speaking during a working visit to the agency, the minister praised the Director of DPR, Mr. Mordeccai Ladan for his foresight in setting up the NPMS platform to track crude oil production real-time, thereby dispelling allegations that ”Nigeria does not know how much crude oil it produces and exports.

” NPMS system is set up to achieve a robust data bank for timely information and easy retrieval, improved transparency in hydrocarbon accounting, improved revenue generated from hydrocarbon production and export, accurate hydrocarbon data monitoring and consistent high-quality data publication.

The minister said: ‘’All major stakeholders, including the presidency and the National Assembly would have access to the platform real time to enable alignment of production figures by all stakeholders.”

“The NPMS is linked to the 26 export terminals nationwide and the platform provides a field operators portal for submission of production figures by operators.

The platform also provides an export facility portal which enables DPR staff embedded at the terminals in line with the agency’s regulatory oversight responsibility to submit terminal reports of crude stored in the facility and generate certificate of quantity for export clearance.”

ABUJA—The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has lauded the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, for its strides towards achieving digital technological breakthrough in crude oil accounting through the deployment of the National Production Monitoring System (NPMS) platform.
