1. APC issues stern warning to Gov. Obaseki over alleged attacks on Oshiomhole

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North senatorial district has vowed to resist alleged attempts by the Edo State government to tarnish the image of the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Leaders of the party in the senatorial district urged the State governor, Godwin Obaseki, to call his media team to order, alleging that they had embarked on campaign of calumny against Oshiomhole, with a view to joining his political opponents across the nation in scandalizing his name.

The leaders, after a meeting on Monday, made the call in a communiqué signed by High Chief Aloye, Chief (Alhaji) Usman Mogaji Charlton and Ahmed Musa Momoh.

2. Saraki: Arewa youths issue strong warning to Southwest leaders, EFCC

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has cautioned “a certain Southwest political leader” and “his collaborators in the APC-led Federal Government” to steer clear of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and jettison “the new plot to unleash EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies in order to intimidate the man.”

This was contained in the text of press conference presented to newsmen in Lagos by AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima on Monday.

3. What local govt autonomy will do to governors – Senator Gumel

Chairman, Senate Committee on State and Local Government Administration, Senator Abdullahi Gumel, has said local government autonomy will help clip ‘wings of some governors’ and curb corruption.

Gumel, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said the move would help to put state governors, particularly those who used local government funds as slush fund, in check.

Iran, on Monday, warned the U.S. against addressing the Islamic Republic of Iran with disrespect and threats of war.

This warning comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump stoked concerns about a potential U.S.-Iran conflict.

But in a sign of brewing confrontation a year after Washington quit world powers’ 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions on it, Tehran announced a fourfold increase in its rate of low-grade uranium enrichment, NAN reports.

The suspended Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, (Barr) Uche Okwukwu, has stated that the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, can influence Igbo presidency.

He said that the Minister has all it takes to influence the ambition of the South-East to produce president of the nation in 2023.

According to Okwukwu, Amaechi has political capacity to help Igbo achieve its political quest in 2023.

He said that the Director General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Organization, has delivered President Muhammadu Buhari, in two consecutive polls.

6. Obaseki speaks on ‘battling’ APC leaders

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Monday in Auchi debunked rumour of his administration having issues with some leaders of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

NAN reports that Obaseki made this known to newsmen shortly after a closed-door meeting with the leaders of the party in Edo North Senatorial District.

He said that the people of the state were happy with what he had done by providing basic infrastructure, saying that the people would decide his second tenure.

7. Zamfara APC crisis: ‘Buhari won’t be part of your ungodly agenda’ – Senator Marafa attacks Gov. Yari

Chairman of Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Senator Kabiru Marafa, has raised the alarm over alleged attempt by the Governor Abdulaziz Yari to influence the outcome of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State.

In a statement on Monday, Marafa said that Governor Yari’s iftar dinner (breaking of Ramadan fast) with President Muhammadu Buhari in Saudi Arabia was an attempt to influence the outcome of the court.

9. Police arrest 70 suspected kidnappers, recover weapons in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command, on Monday, said that it has so far arrested no fewer than 70 suspected kidnappers from April to date across the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Sanusi Buba disclosed this during a press briefing in Katsina on the achievements recorded by Operation Puff Adder in the state.

He said that the police also recovered 43 AK 47 rifles, two Light Assault Rifles, 19 Dane guns, two pump action rifles and two pistols during the period under review.

10. FEC approves N3.8bn for construction of School, other projects in FCT

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its extraordinary session, on Monday, presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo approved N3.8billion for the execution of various development projects within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammed Bello, who announced this at the end of the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said the approved projects included the construction of School of Science, Zuba, at N701 million, NAN reports.
