God Did Not Create These Problems, We Did – Obasanjo
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has blamed the leaders of the country for the political and economic woes the country is currently battling with. He made this statement during the ceremony held to mark his 81st birthday celebration, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta on Monday.
According to him, it wasn’t God that created the bad situations Nigeria is in, but, the deficit in leadership was largely responsible for the underdevelopment of the country.
Obasanjo stated further that the issue of leadership, development, and values should be upheld in order to change the paradigm shift in the areas of development in the country.
He said, “I do not believe that God has created a bad situation for Nigeria or for any particular section of the country or for any particular country in Africa.”
“So why things are not going right? We must blame ourselves. It’s an issue of leadership, governance, development, and values.”
“These are things that we must take seriously and make sure we get them right.”
Obasanjo, however, reiterated his intent to not involve himself in active politics but to use the rest of his life in serving God and humanity.
