Three Persons Killed In Ogun Fresh Cultists Attack
Three persons have been reportedly killed on Thursday in Ijebu-Igbo, a community in Ogun.
NIGERIA NEWS gathered that the victims lost their lives as a result of a bloody clash which occurred between some hoodlums perceived to be cult members.
Information available to NIGERIA NEWS revealed that two of the deceased met with their death at Ojowo section of Ijebu-Igbo as the cultists were engaged in a bloody battle while the third victim was murdered at station garage area of the town. A source who pleaded anonymity gave the name of the last victim as Mr Owolabi, alias Aburo Obasanjo.
The Police has however contradicted the information received by NIGERIA NEWS as it claimed that only one life was lost during the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi explained the deceased was seen with matchet cuts all over his body when his corpse was found.
Recall that reports on the conflict between cult members in the state have occupied the media recently.
This violent clash has led to the killing and maiming of several people, especially within Ijebu-Igbo community.
A total of about 10 people have been reportedly killed in the community in less than two months.
It would also be recalled that early last month four people were reportedly killed among which was a Police Inspector and the others suspected to be members of Oodua People’s Congress, OPC.
The deceased was said to have been hacked to death in the violent attack that occurred between some cult members in the state.
NIGERIA NEWS gathered that the police are already carrying out an investigation on the fresh attack while it has also arraigned a total number of 34 persons before an Ijebu-Igbo magistrate’s court in connection with the violent attack by the cultists.
Police Arrest 50 Year Old Woman For Buying Newborn Baby In Anambra State
The NIGERIA NEWS gathered that a 50-year-old woman buys a newborn baby at the sum of 500 000 nairas and at the moment she is at the custody of the police.
The incident occurs at No 3 Onyekwore street, Awada, Onitsha, Anambra state. The culprit’s name is Juli et Onweagoba and her colleague in the evil act is Edith Ewudo who is also 49 years old. They confessed that they used to buy the newborn baby from Ndidi Egeonu.
The police arrested them after it leaked out that a baby was stolen from a delivery mother. A police representative from Anambra state, Haruna Mohammed said that the baby has been recovered back from the culprits.
Mr. Haruna said:
“On the 12/6/2019 at about 7:00 pm, Police detectives attached to Awada division arrested one Juliet Onweagba ‘f’ aged 50 years of No 3 Onyekwore Street Awada
“Suspect conspired with one Edith Ewudo aged 49 years of Orsumoghu street Awada and bought a newborn baby girl at the sum of N550,000 from one Ndidi Egeonu ‘f’ aged 35 years of Odume Obosi.
“The baby was stolen from the mother one Udechukwu Faith ‘f’ aged 23 years of 3-3 Onitsha shortly after delivery on the 2/6/2019.”
All the suspects are expected to be charged to court soon as the investigation continues.
Good worth millions lost fire in Ibadan market after water tanker nuzzle failed to work
Shop owners in Orita-Aperin market in Ibadan couldn’t quantify their loss following a fire incident that burnt goods worth millions of naira from a source that is yet to be ascertained.
This has happened after a couple a similar fire incident occurred at the Onipepeye bridge, along Lagos/Ibadan expressway, where some people were burnt to death a few weeks ago.
Speaking with the press at the scene of the inferno on Saturday, the Babaloja of Orita-Aperin, Abiodun Ahmed, said that goods worth millions of naira were lost.
According to him, the fire which started by 12 midnight on Friday from an unknown source.
He lamented that the Oyo State Fire Service was immediately called but unfortunately when they got there, the nuzzle of their truck was not functioning.
“So we have to resolve to self-help by putting out the fire ourselves, or else, the loss would have been more than this.”
According to him, most of the owners of the shops affected by the fire just bought goods into their respective shops, adding that, that was what made the total value of the goods affected by the fire to be much.
“The shops that were affected include shop of a jewelry seller, shop of a food ingredient seller, shop of a provision seller, red oil seller and herbs seller, among others, five million, six hundred thousand was the worth of jewelries that got burnt, and most of the goods affected in the shops of the herbs seller cannot be replaced because they were ancient goods that can not be seen on market again.”
He, however, appealed to the Oyo State Government to come to their aide because the loss was too much for the victims to bear.
