PDP vs APC

The leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party has disclosed that the loss of the Lagos chapter chairman of the party, Moshood Salvador, to the ruling All Progressives Congress is nothing to worry about as he has no meaningful contribution to them.

NIGERIA NEWS gathers that the PDP made this known through the State’s Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Taofik Gani.

According to a statement issued by Gani today in the state, the former chairman’s defection has not affected the party in any way and that the party is, even more, better without him.

The party accused Moshood of working against it as he was said not to possess the spirit of a team player.

Recalled that NIGERIA NEWS had earlier published an article on the dumping of the PDP by the chairman for the APC.

According to Salvador, his decision to quit the PDP for the APC is as a result of the way and manner he was neglected after being arrest by the Nigeria Police for allegedly participating in the Murder of one of the stakeholders of the party in the state.

Salvador, while announcing his defection at his residence in Surulere area of Lagos, told his supporters that the leadership of the PDP abandoned him in the custody of the police. He noted that not even for once did they visit him.

He further promised to campaign for the APC and ensure that over 10,000 of his supporters who are members of the PDP would join him in his new decision.

Why INEC Declares PDP As Winner Of Zamfara State Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC under the command of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Electoral body nullify the candidacy of all the All Progressive Congress, APC candidates who won in the last 2019 Zamfara state election and thereby declare the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, who happened to be the first runner up in the election, the winner of the election, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The nullification is due to the judgment pass by the Supreme Court that all the APC did not conduct any valid primary election for the candidates. And so, for that reason, their victory is canceled and the victory is given to the first runner up who happened to be PDP members.

The INEC chairman reveals the report in Abuja on Friday during a briefing.

According to Prof. Mahmood, the electoral commission not only follow the judgment of the court but also take legal advice from a legal practitioner concerning the judgment. The electoral commission reveals that the PDP won the Governorship and Deputy Governorship posts of the Zamfara state election.

According to section 179 subsection 2 of the 1999 constitution, INEC said that PDP qualifies with all criteria the constitution provides. However, the PDP won Zamfara central, west and north senatorial district. The PDP also won the 7 House of Representative.
