PDP Laments Death Of Innocent Nigerians, Threatens To Protest Activities Of Buhari’s Administration
Concerned over the recent killings in the country by herdsmen, Youths of the major opposition party has threatened to carry out a mass protest against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari across the nation.
The Youths also revealed that the planned protest is not only to condemn the incessant killings in the country but to also condemn the abject poverty state of living of Nigeria citizens.
The planned protest was relayed during a press conference at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by the country’s coordinator of the group, Ibrahim Bala Aboki.
According to the group, the present administration came into power with the promise to fight corruption but instead of concentrating on that it has embarked on witch hunting its political critics and have continued to frustrate them.
The group also claimed that the way the present administration is going about the trial of the former National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh shows that there is a malicious aforethought.
It also noted that the former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan deserve to be treated well as he is a highly placed and respected individual across the globe.
The group recounted the achievements of the former president as it also commended his decision to concede defeat during the last presidential election which brought Buhari into power.
In the words of Aboki, “Every right thinking Nigerian and members of the international community have applauded the modest disposition of the former President for conceding defeat to the APC even before the last count of the election results.”
The Coordinator revealed that the group is ready to stage the protest soon in conjuction with some non govermental organisation and all interested groups which are not satisfied with the way the present administration goes about its activities.
Quoting ABoki, “The PDP National Youth Vanguard in collaboration with all PDP-friendly NGOs and Civil Society Organizations have scheduled to hold a 10-million man march to protest the lackadaisical attitude of the APC government to the killings across the country, nepotism, hunger and starvation, resurgence of long queues in our filling stations and the obvious persecution of opposition leaders/political parties by the APC government in the name of fighting corruption.”
Speaking further, he said, “We are astonished to watch the so called fight against corruption by the ruling APC. While many leaders and members of the PDP are in different courts on account of several frivolous charges of corruption, President Buhari is cohabiting and pardoning all members of his cabinet that are involved in illegalities.”
The group also claimed that the president is being partial in some of its decision as it has refused to commence trial against some of his loyalists who have been accused of corruption.
The date of the planned mass protest was not disclosed by the group, but it claim it is going to be soon.
