One Edward Adamu from Gombe State has been nominated by the President and forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
This was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in Abuja yesterday.
Adamu Nominated As CBN Deputy
According to Adesina, “the nomination was in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) (Establishment) Act 2007.”
“The nomination of Edward as CBN Deputy Governor by the President was contained in a letter dated Jan. 26, 2018, which was addressed to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.”
This nomination was necessary based on the retirement of Mr Sulaiman Barau, from Zaria, Kaduna State, who retired in December, 2017.
Barau used to be the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Prior to Adamu’s nomination, he was the Director of Strategy and later Director of Human Resources and has spent 25 years in the CBN.
