The PDP, in a terse statement by its spokesman, Taofiq Gani, however, said “if, for any reason, it has reasons to challenge the result announced it shall not hesitate to so do.

Atiku Abubakar cries out, says Lai Muhammed is setting him up with security

Published

on

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar cries out saying the are plans in the offing by some “unscrupulous elements” to implicate him.

This was made known in a statement issued on his behalf by his spokesman, Paul Ibe. He alleged that there are plans to carry out some crimes across the country with a view of implicating him as well as other top member of the opposition, PDP.

In the statement, Atiku calls for the arrest of the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, over his slanderous comments that he is planning to sabotage President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, as earlier reported by NIGERIA NEWS

The statement reads, “We wish to blow the whistle as an early-warning alert of the grandiose scheme being put together by some unscrupulous elements aimed at jeopardising the reputation of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar in the coming days and weeks,” the statement read.

“By the merit of what is beginning to unfold, there are plans to create some upsets across the country whereby alleged perpetrators of such crimes will engage in phantom names-dropping of Atiku Abubakar and some senior personalities in the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Already, we are abreast of some other plans to plant fictitious stories in some mushroom media outlets aimed at discrediting Atiku and his political party, the PDP.

“It, therefore, becomes preponderant that we alert the public of this demonic plan and to say that it will be imprudent to compromise the peace and security of Nigerians in order to score a cheap political goal.

“Towards this end, and for the umpteenth time, we call on the Federal Government to be awake to its responsibilities of providing security and ensuring peace, and to desist from actions and utterances that are capable of exposing our fault lines.

“It is very unsettling that senior administration officials, especially those who are the mouthpiece of government will make reckless but calculated comments to tarnish the image of Atiku Abubakar and government will sit idly on it.”
“With the conclusion reached by relevant security outfits that there is no evidentiary proof to back the claim by Lai Mohammed that the opposition was planning to upstage the government, we demand that the information minister should be arrested for a breach of security and an apology rendered to Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, he concluded.

PDP Makes Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa Stepdown From Presidential Election Petition Tribual

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar do not accept that the President-elect, Mohammadu Buhari should be declared the winner and therefore he charged Buhari to presidential election petition tribunal. The NIGERIA NEWS recently gathered that the President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa  stepdown from the presidential election petition tribunal.

The PDP with the back of Atiku Abubakar insinutated that Mrs Bulkachuwa is in an affair with an APC member and for the reason that her husband is also a senatior under the All Progressive Congress, APC party, she was then requested to stepdown. However on Wednesday the tribunal challenge the accuse they brought against Mrs. Bulkachuwa that there is no any prove of the judge being bias.

However, Mrs Bulkachuwa stepdown despite the tribunal support. Mr. Atiku the said on Thursday that his, “legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment,”

Below is Atiku Abubakar Speech On Th Matter Of Presidential Election Petition Tribunal

“One of the principal maxims of the Common Law is nemo judex in causa sua (no man shall be a judge in his own case). The call by my legal team for Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa to recuse herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal was predicated on this principle, is that her husband, Alhaji Mohammed Bulkachuwa, is an All Progressives Congress Senator-elect and the case she was expected to adjudicate upon had a bearing on that party.

“My legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment.

“It is with this in mind that I commend Justice Bulkachuwa for recusing herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Panel hearing my petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Her action showed courage and is an act of patriotism. She has, by this action, increased the confidence the public have for the judiciary.

“Not only do I commend her, but I also pray, especially in this holy month of Ramadan, that Justice will be done by the tribunal according to the fear of God and not in keeping with respect for the powers that be.

“May God bless the judiciary and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
