INEC Announces Hembe Winner Of Konshisha/Vandeikya Fed Constituency Seat

Mr Yahaya Bello, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC),  of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has assured of peaceful conduct of Council  Chairmanship and Counsellorship in the territory.

Bello,  who stated this during his oversight visit to the polling units in the FCT added that all logistic and personnel arrangements had been made in the six area councils.

The councils are Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali.

“The elections have commenced in all polling units in the FCT,  people have started voting.

“Security arrangement is perfect in the polling units,  we made sure that the people are voting.  Our staff and materials are well-secured not just in the city centre,  but in the area councils as well.

“We have been monitoring the process and all things are good so I urged residents to come out,  vote and wait for the results.

“The National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu directed me to tell residents that their votes would count, ’’ said.

Bello urged residents not to panic but go out to vote credible candidates capable of bringing transformation to the territory.

He said that steps had been taken to ensure a reduction in the number of cancelled votes.

He added that the counsellorship collation centres would be at the ward levels,  while that of chairmanship would be at the INEC office in the various area councils except for   AMAC that would be collated at its Karu office.

Bello said that the six area councils had 62 wards and 871 polling units,  with 1,344,856 registered voters.

NIGERIA NEWS reports that a total of 105 candidates would be contesting for six chairmanship positions,  and 701 would seek to occupy the 62 counsellorship seats.

NIGERIA NEWS also reports that 40 females are in the race for the chairmanship positions, while 88 are seeking to be elected as counsellors.
