Russia Spank Saudi Arabia 5-0 In Opening Match
Hosts, Russia defeated Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Stadium was filled to the brim as the Russians wanted to savor world cup action.
The players didn’t disappoint the supporters as they put up a dominant and ruthless display to dispatch Saudi Arabia who had no single shot on target all through the match.
Garzinskiy opened the scoring with a glancing header in the 12th minutes, before substitute Denis Cheryshev added the second with a beautiful solo effort to give Russia a 2-0 lead in the first half.
The second half began the way the first half ended as Russia dominated possession as the Saudi Arabians struggled to contain the hosts.
Artem Dzyuba scored after coming off the bench to give Russia a 3-0 lead before Cheryshev added his second of the match and Golovin rounded it up with a beautiful free kick to ensure the Arabians were soundly beaten by the hosts.
