Reports reaching NIGERIA NEWS reveal that the members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have rejected the outcome of the lmo State Local Government elections.
NIGERIA NEWS recalls that the elections took place on Saturday wherein the ruling party, APC won all the 27 seats in the State.
The party which made their grievances known via their publicity secretary in Imo state, Godsent Chilos, revealed that there were several irregularities.
According to Chilos, “We are not satisfied with the outcome of the local government election held in the state last Saturday. Because, before the LG election, our party held several meeting with IPAC and Imo state Independent Electoral Commission (IMSIEC) where candidates were asked to pay a certain amount to the IMSIEC, which was illegal.”
“And again, the last Saturday’s election, the turn out was below expectations, because it was just below five per cent of the total registered voters in various communities. So, we cannot see that, to represent the view of the people of Imo state.”
“We reject the election that cannot be an election that will be ascribed to be a democratic election.”
