A professor of Economics from the Nassarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Uche Uwaleke, said the N-Power Volunteer Scheme introduced by the current administration has created jobs for over 200,000 unemployed graduates in the 36 states and Abuja.

N-Power: record 750,000 graduates apply Uwaleke, who disclosed this at the ongoing leadership training programme organised on the auspices of the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups, NCBSG, for its coordinators nationwide, in Abuja, said, the government was on course in its campaign promises on job creation.

Uwaleke, in an assessment of the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led APC administration, noted that the implementation of the Bank Verification Number, BVN, had plugged loopholes for syphoning of public fund and tracking of illicit funds through multiple accounts.

He said the government had continued to save up to N24.7 billion monthly from the Treasury Single Account, TSA, policy while about N108 billion had been saved from the removal of maintenance fees payable to banks before the advent of TSA. Uwaleke said the sudden and unexpected drop in crude oil price from a peak of $114.60 per barrel per day (BPD) in June 2014 to under $30/BPD by February 2016 created a financial crisis for the government.

According to him, despite the dwindling economy, the Buhari-led administration had spent over N1.2 trillion on capital/infrastructure projects nationwide.
