Senate Members Deliberates On Buhari’s Impeachment
Members of the Senate Assembly are currently calling for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari for not seeking their approval before the withdrawal of the $496 million used for the purchase of aircraft from the United States.
The motion was moved by the senator representing Edo, Matthew Uroghide on Thursday. He stated that the President’s move was a violation of the constitution and so, he should face the consequences.
He, therefore, prayed that the Senate invoke Section 143 which allows for the impeachment process of the president, to be allowed.
The motion was seconded and supported by Chukwuka Utazi.
According to reports gathered by NIGERIA NEWS, Mr Utazi was clearly angry and stated that, “This is an impeachable offence.”
However, deliberations are still ongoing by other senators as at the time of filing this report.
