Stakeholders Could Not Reach Concrete Resolution As They Leave Meeting In Annoyance
Ahead of the elections in Ekiti State, critical stakeholders have left the meeting without a concrete resolution annoyingly.
NIGERIA NEWS recalls that the normal event at a stakeholders meeting prior to elections should be to fine tune the election process.
However, in Ekiti State, the reverse seems to be the case as the meeting which started on a peaceful note could not end the same way.
The Proceedings of the meeting reveal that “The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had organised a meeting to meet candidates and party stalwarts to reel out the readiness of the commission and heads of security agencies led by the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris.”
“The meeting has started on a peaceful note with the Resident electoral commissioner for Ekiti state Abdulganiyu Raji stating the readiness of the commission for the conduct of Saturday election. The National commissioner in charge of Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states Solomon Soyebi also announced the extension of the collection of permanent voter cards while the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris read out the riot act .”
“No sooner than the microphone was handed over to the peoples democratic parry representative, Samuel Omotosho who spoke about alleged intimidation, than PDP supporters started shouting. All efforts to calm the crowd by the chairman of Aekiti traditional rulers led by Oloye of Oye Oba Michael Ademolaju however led to more charge on the side of PDP supporters.”
These proceedings led to a continuous pandemonium which has resulted into them having the meeting half way.
