Factions Lambast Oyegun For Not Being Fair

APC Crisis: Oyo Faction Heads To Court

The All Progressive Congress(APC) in Taraba state has joined the ongoing crisis within the party as two different factions have rejected the Party Congress in the state. The factions claimed that the Congress was done to favor Mrs. Aisha Jumai Alhassan loyalists.

The faction went to lambast the Party’s national chairman for his act of dishonesty and injustice which is not supposed to be the character of a leader.

Two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State have rejected the inauguration of party executives in the state.
They alleged that only the loyalists of the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Aisha Jumai Alhassan, were elected and subsequently inaugurated as the Party executives in Taraba.

The factions composed of the Unity Forum and the Neutral Group also condemned the inauguration that was facilitated by the National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.

A statement by the spokesperson of the groups, Aaron Artimas, said Odigie-Oyegun’s action had widened the existing cracks in the party.

According to the statement, the recognition of Alhassan’s faction was “an infamous act, especially when there are issues still being contested in the courts.”

They expressed concern about Odigie-Oyegun’s action, especially as the APC’s national secretariat had earlier admitted that there were irregularities in the congresses held in the state.

The factions urged their supporters not to be carried away by the situation, adding: “no one can rule the party through the back door.”

While promising that the leaders would do something to correct the matter, he said the existing problem could force some aspirants to abandon the party.

They urged the outgoing national chairman to leave a good legacy by addressing factional matters on ground.

However, the new executives, led by Abdulmumuni Vaki, have appealed to the factions to bury the hatchets.

According to the state Deputy Chairman, Daniel Ishaya Gani: “The inauguration was to make the party to triumph in the coming elections.

“I urge all party faithful to put aside their differences.”
