Prof. Thomas Agan has refuted all allegations as regards the suspected case of Lassa Fever in Calabar.

Recall that a degenerated pregnant woman,s case who was later taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, threw residents into panic as people suspected she died of Lassa Fever.
Medical Results Show That There Is No Lassa Fever In Calabar
According to Agan who is the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, “the result of the sample sent to the laboratory indicated that the pregnant woman did not die of Lassa fever”.
The Professor, however, stressed that the hospital is ready to handle cases of Lassa Fever although none have been brought to them yet.
He further revealed that some medical practitioners have been trained for such emergencies by the ministry of health already.
In his words, “The reports are out, they are all negative. We do not have any case of Lassa fever here in Calabar. However, we are prepared to handle any, if it surfaces.”
“We have the trained crew that is capable of managing cases, while drugs for that purpose have also been supplied by the Federal Ministry of Health.”
“I have got in touch with the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, who affirmed the previous report to some media houses.”
