2000 Ruling APC Members Defect To PDP In Kano
No fewer than 2,000 members of the ruling All Progressive Congress have dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state.
Reports gathered that, on Monday, March 13, the APC members defected to Secondus-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Sumaila local government area of Kano state and were subsequently received by an ex-governor of Kano state, Ibrahim Shekarau, Aminu Wali and Gambo Salau.
The former APC members led by Surajo Kanawa accused the ruling party of allowing the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly matters, Abdulrahman Sumaila, to run the APC the way he likes.
The aggrieved defectors said that Sumaila only gives preference to members of the Kawu empire whom he recognises as the pioneer and key members of the party in the area.
Surajo also claimed that through his highhandedness, Sumaila has blocked all route engineered by members to get through to the APC headquarters for complaints while treating members with disdain.
He added that the APC’s future appears unpromising in the local government area as the party lacks equity, fairness and internal democracy.
Meanwhile, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that APC chieftain tells Buhari he may not win his strongest political base, Kano in the upcoming 2019 presidential election.
