  1. It has been revealed that former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Jumoke Akinjide is to appear in court in June.  Mrs.  Jumoke Akinjide will be arraigned alongside two other persons $who are chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party) by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). This is as a result of the allegations that the defendants received money from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, prior to the 2015 general elections. EFCC claims that the money was fraudulently shared among chieftains in the PDP.

  2. The wife of Ghanaian actor (Chris Attoh), Bettie Jennifer has been confirmed dead. She was shot dead while leaving her office in Maryland in the United States of America. According to reports,  she was shot on 5pm on Friday by a gunman. Bettie is believed to have been shot while making way to her car after leaving her office, 6300 block of Ivy Lane.

  3. Finally,  the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination after three weeks of the examination’s conclusion. According to JAMB over 1.8million candidates wrote the examination. As a result of the widespread malpractices which was experienced during the course of the examination,  the board has withheld 34,120 results for various examination related offences.  This was revealed by the registrar of the board,  Prof.  ishaq Oloyede on Saturday in Abuja.

  4. Inibehe Effiong, Nigerian lawyer has filed a lawsuit against the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. The petition claim that it is unconstititional for President Buhari not to hand iver government to his Vice President before leaving the country. Buhari had on April 24 2019, left the country for what he described as a ‘private visit.’ The suit number FHC/L/CS/763/2019, was filed before a Federal High Court in Lagos. Effiong is asking the Court to determine whether the president can embark on such a trip without going through the necessary constitutional procedures.

  5. On Saturday, Kano State Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje appointed four new first class emir in the state. These four new emirs were presented with letter of appointments at an event held in the state capital on Saturday. Those presented with the letters of appointment include Aminu Ado Bayero, the son of Late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, as the Emir of Bichi; Ibrahim Abulkadir as the Emir of Gaya; Tafida Abubakar as the Emir of Rano and Abubakar Ibrahim II as the Emir of Karaye. Ganduje during the presentation said the creation of an additional four Emirates will make the Kano traditional system more efficient.

  6. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to use alternative routes due to ongoing rehabilitation work.
    Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Saturday. He said it is due to the ongoing rehabilitation work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which has necessitated the construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, to erect barriers around the Magboro area of the corridor, to enable them lay asphalt on that stretch of the road.

  7. Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has declared that he has no assets or accounts in any foreign country. This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday made by his media adviser, Ikechukwu Eze. This declaration follows the report that claimed that lawyers representing the Federal Government, in a London court accused him of accepting bribes in order “to broker a $1.3 billion oil deal eight years ago”. He dismissed the report on the controversial Malabu oil deal, as a recycled falsehood that is “blatantly dishonest, cheap and predictable”.

  8. The youths of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, have reportedly killed a notorious criminal popularly known as “One Man Squad”, who before his death allegedly terrorised the community. Spokesman of Benue Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident in Makurdi. She said that the incident took place on Friday evening in Gboko, but added that the police was yet to properly identify him, his real name or place of origin.

  9. The Indigenous Peoples of BiafraIPOB has expressed its shock over the actions of some of persons and groups who are serving as a willing tool in the hands of “the enemies of the Biafran people” following their irrational attempts to sabotage the will of Biafran people on the May 30 Sit-At-Home order. The group said it is determined to cary on with its proposed Sit-At-Home order on May 30th and no amount of “Abuja sponsored” propaganda can stop it.
    The IPOB warned that such persons will have themselves to blame at the appointed time when the anger of the people will descend on them.

  10. The Presidency has admonished the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop dragging it into their current alleged sponsored media smear campaign against the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa. This was contained in a statement on Saturday by a presidential aide, Garba Shehu. It said reports claiming that an agency of the government, the Department of State Services, DSS, has indicted Bulkachuwa of corruption are the latest sponsored campaign aimed at causing disaffection between the Executive and the Judiciary, the two arms of government that had operated smoothly under the present dispensation.

Reports reaching NIGERIA NEWS have already shown that General Ibrahim Babangida, the retired army and head of state, is alive contradictory to speculations about his death.

Vanguard claims that even an online content published the former president passed on Friday, May 17. In futherance, the content claimed that Babangida is hailing and heartfelt and always bubbling with life.

According to findings, NIGERIA NEWS gathered that an anonymous source told Vanguard correspondents that the retired army general broke today’s Ramadan fast together with friends and family. This he did at his Hilltop Mansion on Friday, May 17.
