Police in Ondo has disclosed that a suspected kidnapper arrested has been asleep for the past six days as a result of the effect of a drug,(tramadol) he was said to have taken before embarking on his kidnap mission.
According to information gathered by NIGERIA NEWS, the ‘sleeping kidnap suspect’ was arrested last Sunday while his accomplices escaped in Owo, a neighbouring town to Akure, the capital of the state.
The information revealed that the suspect and the three others who are still at large had invaded a shop with a gun with the intention of kidnapping the shop owner who was lucky to have escaped after which he started shouting and beckoning on passersby to come to his aid.
The suspect who tried to escape on a bike he was reported to have snatched from one of the customers of the pharmacist was caught by some passersby who handed him over to the police.
The Police, however, have been unable to query the suspect as he said to have been sleeping since his arrest.
According to the Police, a 400mg tablet of Tramadol was found in his pocket and this made them believe he must have taken some of the drugs hence his long sleep.
Speaking on the situation of the suspect, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed yesterday that the suspect is still sleeping six days after he has been arrested.
In his words: “As of today (Friday), the suspect had yet to wake up. Maybe he took too much of the drug, that is why he is still sleeping. We have tried all we could to make him regain his consciousness to no avail.”
“However, we are still watching him find out if he is pretending. We are with him and he would face the music no matter how long he is unconscious.”
The police further revealed that efforts are already being made in order to nab the three others who are at large.
