See Universities Awarded N54.7million Research Grants By NCC
NIGERIA NEWS has today gathered that the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has awarded huge research grants of N54,755,846 to nine universities that emerged winners in the 2016 and 2017 Research Proposals for development of the telecommunication industry.
The award was presented to the universities today in Abuja.
Below is the list of the universities that won the award and the grant sum that was given to them including the research to be carried.
Covenant University, Ota – N9.3million – development of low-cost GSM system for rural areas;
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi received N5.9million- design and construction of customer identification system in telecom industry;
Enugu State University of Science and Technology – N1.4million- development of a home-grown electrical power charger for cellphones from cooking heat;
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife -N12,3million for – Design, fabrication, experimental characterization of plastic optical fibre cable and the exploitation of its potentials in Nigeria telecom industry;
University of Port Harcourt – N5.3million – design and construction of 1 to a 10GHz Anechoic chamber for 3G, 4G and 5G Antenna measurement;
Nigeria Air Force Institute of Tech. Zaria – N5million – design and construction of a power line communication modern for domestic LAN;
Elizade University, Ondo – N5million – GSM-Based Smart Energy Meter
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – N7million- Development of wearable e-band tracking system.
