Nigerian artiste, Naira Marley, popularly known for his hit single, “Issa Goal has been strongly criticised by Nigerians on social media for his recent posts that stated that praised internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo boys.’

The musician, made a live video on Instagram, appealing to Nigerians to pray for ‘Yahoo boys’ because they are responsible for the fair circulation of money in the country.

In his video, he stated: “All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?

“You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys

“The money will go like this, from Obasanjo to Tinubu, from Tinubu to Mr Japa, you think me I need Yahoo?

“I make money from my music.”

Some of the tweets can be seen below.

@DrOlufunmilayo “Naira Marley is a disgraceful Nigerian specimen.Imagine publicly defending fraud and being daft to think Yahoo scams help the economy. When you travel and you are treated like a criminal for no reason just because you are Nigerian, you will realise the extent of this damage.”

@AyoShonaiya “On this Naira Marley and his stupid comments on Yahoo Yahoo, you have to understand he’s from a generation of Nigerians who don’t know any different. It’s not just him. There are millions of young Nigerians who believe Fraud is not a crime. They think everything na hustle.”

@Favoredsinner “I’m not surprised about Naira Marley issue.90% of Nigeria musicians are only cleaning their fraud money with Music.
Sometimes I wonder how you released one song that we downloaded for free and get to buy houses and cars with it.”

@666_Notradamus “Yahoo might have helped naira marley but not our economy. Also, not everyone has benefitted from yahoo. So, if you have, do not rope others in. ”

@Mrseptin911 “Naira Marley is not only a shame to the music industry, but also a shame to Nigeria! This should not be taken lightly by the FG. There can never be any justification for ‘Yahoo’, it is illegal and should be curbed!

@Itutu1491 “Unfortunately, Naira Markey just said the truth.Even the government of today is yahoo personified the bad aspect of theirs is that they don’t bring money to Nigeria ,they take it abroad.”

@Mastermelli “The more I read people justifying this mentally unstable guys assertion, the more I weep for my country. Yahoo has killed many legit business connections btw Nigerians and other nations that brings in better money and reputation to the country.”

@PaulOsas1 “Fraud is a crime; it is wrong, and no one should pray for criminals to thrive. However, to solve the problem, we must recognize the infamous role it plays in our infantile economy. There are legit businesses being funded by fraud money — hotels, clubs, restaurants, bars, etc.”

@KoloJesse “I know it doesn’t matter but I am deleting every Davido, Naira Marley and Zlatan’s music in every platform I have them on! I don’t support “Yahoo yahoo”, listening to them means I do!

@BimpeRoyale “This whole Naira Marley Yahoo shit will just make life harder for Nigerians planning to work for a clean living out there. Not everyone is interested in crime.”

@Polyergeyst “Now I gotta cancel that Naira Marley fool. I used to like his music but there’s no point not like he has talent enough to last in the industry. We move.”

@Urbanspirit “Everybody talking about Naira Marley and Yahoo Yahoo. Okay where are the jobs?, how much can an average Nigerian graduate earn from a govt job at level 6? Should I talk about NYSC?Or the minimum wage shit? Or the level of inflation?. Please!

@Bunmcharles “Naira Marley isn’t mad, go ask most petty traders in many communities that have access to internet you will be wowed. Im not justifying it, just tellin you its whats been delayin the time bomb. If not for yahoo none of us will have a safe home by now or anythin safe about Nigeria. Its that bad.”

I’m not just a producer, am a commercial actor too – Yemi My Lover

Yemi my lover

Revered Nigerian actor, Yemi Ayebo has said that he had produced other movies that were better than Yemi my Lover, the title that brought him to the limelight.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop he admitted that it was the movie that t made him popular and that’s how he got his stage name.

“Even if I make movies that are more interesting, they may not be as popular as the one from which I derived my stage name. As a matter of fact, I have made movies that are better than Yemi my Lover. For you to know how powerful that name is, many of the contemporary music artists such as Olamide and DJ Cuppy have sang about it.”

Speaking on his current projects, the actor said there is a project he is working on but it’s on hold because of financial challenges.

When asked why he isn’t often seen in movies these days, the entertainer said many of his colleagues think I’m not a commercial artiste.

“But I’m telling them not to see me as just a movie producer. I am also a commercial actor. Ever since I started speaking out about this, there have been changes but not much. They now call me for jobs but things can be better.”

He mentioned artiste like late Ade Afolayan (Ade love) as an artist who used to feature only in his own production, and people have been looking at him like that.

“In those days, hardly would you see an actor such as Ade Afolayan (Ade Love) in every movie. He usually only featured in his own productions. Because of that, people perceived him as not been a commercial artiste.

“Someone like Kunle Afolayan is also seen in that light. He is a producer and director, and many people don’t see him as a commercial actor. As for me, I am a producer, director, singer, dancer and actor. I am a born artiste and there is no role I cannot play.”

Kemi Olunloyo calls out to Naira Marley over attack on Ruggedman In London (VIDEO)

She wrote:

Marlians, be guided. Don’t be part of this. Violence is not the answer to anything. My whole family almost got killed yesterday because of cash, gadgets and jewelry. My son @richkjtmusic lost all his devices and studio equipment. We were beaten, my 79yo mom tortured at gunpoint.

My #ptsd heightened, my family too now. Nobody needs to be attacked for advocacy or freedom of expression. I support @nairamarleybut not supporting assaulting @ruggedybaba. Sorry, Ruggedman. Young ppl don’t take your foolishness to foreign countries. God bless the Naira, Nigeria, and everyone.
