Popular French Designer, Hubert de Givenchy Dies At Age 91
One of the world’s most influential fashion designers and the vanguard of the ‘chic lady style’, Count Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy, plainly called Givenchy, has died.
Givenchy, who founded the French Aristocratic Haute Couture ‘The House of Givenchy’ in 1952, was most popular for his famous friendship with Hollywood Star actress, Audrey Hepburn.
He designed Hepburn’s popular ‘Little Black Dress’ and went on to design her attires for close to forty years alongside other stars Jackie Kennedy.

Long-time partner of the legendary designer, Philippe Venet announced Givenchy’s death today through the official Twitter handle of the Fashion House.
Venet revealed that the 91-year old designer died in his sleep on Saturday.
A tweet sent out by the Twitter Handle of the Haute Couture (@givenchy) read: “The House of Givenchy is sad to report the passing away of its founder, Hubert de Givenchy, a major personality of the world of French Haute Couture and a gentleman who symbolized Parisian chic and elegance for more than half a century. He will be greatly missed.”
