Former Barca Midfielder, Xavi Tells Ousmane Dembele He Needs To Be Mentally Strong When Playing
Following an impressive outing for the Catalan side yesterday against Malaga, Ousmane Dembele has been given a piece of advice on how to do better for his new club side.
The 20-year attacking player has not been in great form for Barcelona since he completed his big-money summer transfer from Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund.
Trying to help out a young lad, club legend Xavi Hernandez gave him pieces of advice on how to succeed as a Barca player, chief of which is improving his mental strength.
Xavi said this in an interview with SoFoot which was monitored by NIGERIA NEWS.
According to him: “Dembele will need time. Barca is the ultimate test for a football player. Not everyone can play at the Club. Why? Because you need to be able to do 3 more stuff than anywhere else. Dembele has a lot of talent,” Xavi told SoFoot
“He needs to learn how to think faster. It’s mental. He needs to tell himself I’m a Barca player. You need to be strong mentally.
“There are average players who spent 15 years at Barca because they had the mental. And some excellent players who didn’t last because the pressure ate them.
“Mental strength stabilizes your performance. It makes you stronger. When it matters, for example, Marcelo, Modric or Sergio Ramos are there. Lucas Vasquez against PSG? He went to the pitch and fought. He’s just strong mentally.”
