JAMB to finally release 2019 UTME Results on Monday

Finally, the long wait for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results is over, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) guaranteed that candidates results would be ready from Monday, April 29th 2019.
This revelation was made by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media and Publicity in an interview conducted on Saturday in Bwari, Abuja.
Benjamin commented on the step the board was about to take; the screening of UTME results of candidates from 2009 to 2018, adding that this would commence immediately the 2019 UTME results were released.
The JAMB spokesman said that this step was part of the board’s attempt to combat the issue of malpractice which had been plaguing them for years.
In previous reports by NIGERIA NEWS, JAMB had clearly stated that the release of the 2019 UTME results would come only after they had undergone detailed and rigorous screening in order to single-out those involved in various degrees of examination malpractice.
The screening process, according to JAMB would pinpoint those involved in multiple registration through bio-metric capturing and also address group registration by some elite schools, who end up mixing candidate’s data.
The board said: “Normally, results are expected to be out within 24 to 48 hours as obtained in previous examinations held in 2017 and 2018.
“However, the board does not want this to be business as usual.
“Hence the programmed delay, which is part of its deliberate effort to properly scrutinize, identify and address all forms of examination malpractice.
“The board will continue to act decisively with regards to any irregularity discovered even after results are released.
“However, the board has made it a point of duty to screen all activities at all centres via CCTV recordings, to ensure that it does not release results of compromised examinations.”
JAMB, apologising for the inconveniences caused by the late release of results caused by the screening process, asserted its devotion into ensuring that all candidates were given equal chances to pursue their dreams.
The process of checking the results, according to JAMB, would be a very simple task. When the results are finally released, all candidates are to simply send a text message__RESULT to 55019, using the phone number they used in registering for the examination.
The results, according to the board, would also come in as a text message, minutes after.
This method is said to have been adopted by the board, to prevent candidates being taken advantage of by business centres and cyber cafes, all in the name of result checking.
JAMB also appealed to candidates to turn deaf ears to various articles on how to view their results, stating that they were all lies.
