1. Osun guber: Sen. Adeleke breaks silence on Appeal Court’s judgement, reveals next action
Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2018 governorship election in Osun State, said he had instructed his counsels to challenge the appeal court judgement, which upheld Gov. Gboyega Oyetola’s election at the Supreme Court.
Adeleke, in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Thursday, said he received the appeal court judgement with dissatisfaction.
According to him, the judgment of the appeal court relied on weak technical foundation, while the substantive issue, which formed the basis of the lower tribunal judgement was relegated to the background
2. Probe, arrest me – Ajimobi dares Oyo gov-elect, Makinde
Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State says he is ready for a probe of his administration by incoming government of Seyi Makinde.
He spoke on Thursday at a Public lecture and Fellowship Investiture organised by Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) at the Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by members of the State Executive Council and some heads of security agencies.
3.Osun Guber: Oyetola reacts as Appeal Court rules against Sen. Adeleke
Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has described the Appeal Court judgement, which affirmed his election on Thursday as the triumph of truth over falsehood.
Appeal Court judgement on Thursday upheld the victory of Governor Oyetola as the winner of the last governorship election in the state.
A five-man panel of the Appeal Court-led by Justice Jummai Sankey upheld the election of Oyetola as the governor of Osun State.
Reacting, Oyetola in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeniyi Adesina, said the judgement has proved that the voice of the majority has ultimately gained dominance over the phoney manipulation of unscrupulous minority
4.Senate rejects bill to establish Maritime University in Kogi
The Senate, on Thursday rejected a bill proposing the establishment of Maritime University of Nigeria, Lokoja in Kogi.
The rejection followed presentation of the bill by the sponsor, Sen. Isaac Alfa (PDP-Kogi).
The bill, which was listed for second reading, was rejected by the lawmakers through voice vote.
While making their contributions, the lawmakers had advised the sponsor of the bill to withdraw it following several reasons including the need for more work to be done.
Alfa, however, refused to withdraw the bill, saying he had done a lot of work on it.
5. Negligence of Chevron led to Ilaje fire – Ondo Speaker
The Ondo State House of Assembly, on Thursday said Chevron Nigeria Limited failed to quench the fire incident raging at the Ojumole Oil Well in Ugbo llaje.
The Speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun, who specially blamed Chevron asked the company to come and address the house on the matter before May 14.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the fire incident occurred on April 18, 2019 at the Ojumole Oil Well in Ugbo, llaje Local Government area of the state.
Oleyelogun said the directive followed the outcome of the committee meeting with the stakeholders at the conference room of the State House of Assembly on Thursday.
6.Ramadan: Stop playing politics with workers’ entitlements – Faleke warns Gov. Bello
Former running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu in the 2015 governorship election in Kogi State, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has warned the incumbent governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to stop politicizing the welfare of workers in the state.
Hon. Faleke in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday noted that the warning became necessary as many Muslims brothers and sisters are observing this year’s Ramadan amid hunger and hardship.
He appealed to the Kogi State Government to pay civil servants and pensioners their due entitlements to enable Muslim faithful perform the Ramadan fast with ease.
7.Okorocha: Ohanaeze disowns FCT Chairman
The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has dissociated itself from the agitation by Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, for the release of his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ohanaeze said it always speaks out on matters concerning Ndigbo generally, stressing that it will not allow itself to be dragged into partisan politics concerning individuals.
The apex Igbo body was reacting to a statement by the President of its FCT chapter, Chief Odozi Nwodozi calling for the release of Certificate of Return to Okorocha as senator-elect for Imo West District.

Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC Kano South), says President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives and their deputies in the ninth National Assembly, will be elected through secret ballot.
Gaya said this in a chat newsmen on Thursday, in reaction to calls for the open ballot system.
He said a member in the Senate could move a motion for the amendment of the existing rule before the expiration of the life of the present Assembly and that the procedure must follow due process.
