The supplementary elections will determine who occupies the state government election in Benue state next four years, the supplementary election becomes necessary when the number of cancelled votes was more than the margin the leading party is using to lead the follow-up according to INEC
Who occupies the governorship seat in Benue state has always been between the incumbent governor of the state, Samuel Ortom who is using PDP platform and Emmanuel Jime of APC. Ortom crosses carpet to PDP a few months to the election when the party was no longer favourable to him.
INEC had earlier declared the governorship election in Benue state inconclusive when it was originally held on 9th of March and this makes the Returning Officer (RO) declare the election inconclusive
Though the election was conducted under at very tight security seeing the nationals security to deplore over 7000 policement to manned 3,688 polling units in the Benue state
Among the security officers deployed to the state were: 5 Commissioners, 4 Deputy Commissioners, and 2 Assistant Commissioners.
In the state were 5 commissioners, 4 deputy commissioners and 2 Assistant commissioners within a state for the governorship election
Currently, Ortom of PDP is leading with over 80,000 votes, Ortom is still the favourite to win the state though if the Osun formula is not used get more live update from today’s supplementary elections across the 5 states
